Pre-contest, a few people actually had World of Warcraft beating Paper Mario in round 2. One famous prognosticator actually predicted WoW to score 60% there.

Without even looking at the WoW > Animal Crossing match, you can tell all that was debunked by looking at how badly Paper Mario destroyed Katamari Damacy here. Katamari Damacy used to be a Board 8 darling, but now it's unable to win board votes. Paper Mario ended up being very legit, going as far as winning the If It Were Up To Board 8 contest, but even still it performed very well here.
