Ryu

From Board 8 Wiki

For the similarly-named ninja, see Ryu Hayabusa.

Ryu is the undisputed icon of the fighting game genre. He is the main character of the Street Fighter series and was one of the original 8 World Warriors of Street Fighter II. There's some kind of deep backstory involving him, but all you really need to know is down-to-forward punch.

Ryu was also the inspiration for Heroic Mario's alt Tatsumaki Senpakyuu.

In Contest terms, Ryu has earned the title of Mr. Consistency. Due to his icon status, how he always looks great in match pics, and the fact that he's impossible to anti-vote, Ryu has never turned in a bad Contest performance, with the possible exception of his beatdown at the hands of Bowser in 2005. Fortunately for Ryu, he was able to avenge that embarrassment and then some by owning Bowser convincingly in 2007.
