Super Smash Bros. Melee' is a fighting game release by Nintendo in 2001. It is the sequel to Super Smash Bros. for the N64 and was followed by Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii in 2008. SSBM has been one of the most popular games on Board 8 ever since the board became more Nintendo-friendly in '04 and '05.

Melee's Contest success had not been limited to its impressive Division 128 championship in 2004; the game has also launched a number of characters into (semi-)successful GameFAQS Contest careers. Of the 25 playable characters in SSBM, 19 have an appearance in a character battler. If you discount those who wouldn't be eligible because CJay/SB would consider them the same person (Sheik, Dr. Mario, Young Link, Pichu), then the number stands at 19 of 22.
