TheRock1525 Watches Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2
This is the write-ups for TheRock1525's watch-through of Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion.

Added by TheRock1525
Season 2 Turn 01
Edit
Oh. C2 is alive. Well, I guess she's immortal so that shouldn't be too surprising.
Lelouch is back at school. Huh.
Villetta is a gym teacher? Alright, alright. This is pretty annoying. And this opening sequence is showing a s*** ton of people I do not recognize. And... is that Jeremiah?
Oh, and it looks like Nina didn't blow up the school. That or she did and they rebuilt it rather quickly. But then how did everyone survive? I'm gonna just assume the former.
Who the f*** is this guy calling Lelouch big brother? Where is Nunally?
What the f*** is going on?! Why doesn't Lelouch know that he's Zero?
Well, we've got a new Viceroy. Oh, hey, Guilford's there! Cool, at least he survived.
Someone is targeting Lelouch. I'm assuming they're making sure he's not Zero? Or they know he's Zero and don't want him to realize it? Did he lose his memory? Did someone erase his memory? In this show it seems like whenever someone gets shot, they lose their memory. It's like clockwork. But then were did Rolo come from?
Oh hey, Kallen in fanservice mode. Nevermind.
Kallen didn't recognize Lelouch. For the love of God what is going on?
He walks around with a chess set. Huh.
Prisoners giving exposition. Fun times.
"You filthy lying adult!" Weakest insult I've ever heard.
Oh hey, s***s blowing up and Kallen's kicking ass. Lelouch is still clueless.
The Chinese Federation leader is so feminine.
That Knightmare is all "Come with me if you want to live."
Hiding your key inside your cleavage. Very clever, Kallen. Here comes the Guren Mk-II! Ready to f*** s*** up.
OK, why do none of the student council members question the fact that Lelouch has a kid brother now instead of a kid sister? That's a pretty big difference.
Oh hey, C2 has finally seen Lelouch. And she's trying to explain what the hell is going on to him. And he's still clueless. Obviously he's got amnesia. Either bullet-wound or someone with a special geass that lets them erase memories?
C2 was just shot! Oh no, it's not like she's immortal or anything!
And apparently this guy is a stalker. He's listing off everything he does. So someone's been spying on him. Oh, he's bait, trying to catch C2. OH NO THEY'RE GOING TO SHOOT LELOUCH!
And he's still f***ing clueless. C2 with the save. Still trying to explain everything.
Phony memories implanted in him? I assume it was a geass.
I AM ZERO. Damn straight you are.
Suzaku flashback!
Lelouch hamming it up. Nice. And now he tells them to die. OK, are we officially repeating the first episode verbatim? Cause almost nothing is different.
And now two giant robots drop from the sky and bow to him.
And now, Suzaku and two other people are standing before the Emperor. And Suzaku claims he will kill Zero. That's super.
So really, there's a lot of s*** put in this episode with very little of it explained. Who the f*** is Rolo and where is Nunnallay? Why is Villetta now a gym teacher? Why the f*** can't anyone remember Nunnally? Where is Cornelia? Is she alive? Who are these two people next to Suzaku? Was that Jeremiah in the opening? Is he alive, too? Where is Nina? She's obviously not a part of the student council. Is she in jail? Honestly, there wasn't a whole lot of progress in this episode. The only thing that happened was that Lelouch regained his memory. That's super. It was basically a repeat of the first episode. I get the feeling that episode 2 is going to be a repeat of episode 2 of the previous season, isn't it? This viceroy looks pretty expendable and I'm sure the new viceroy will be someone with a grudge against Zero (Jeremiah? Cornelia?).
Season 2 Turn 02
Edit
TINY CAPES!
Kallen continues to run around in her bunny costume.
FLASHBACK! Maybe that'll explain things. Oh God, they're both horrible shots. Spinzaku Bird Kick! OK, so Suzaku takes him before the Emperor. Dickzaku holds him down and asks for a spot in the Knights of the Round. I have no idea what the hell that is. Ipparently the Emperor has geass. Is everyone going to have geass this season? I'm gonna assume so.
And Lelouch finally realizes Rolo isn't his brother. So who is Rolo?
And time to geass some fools!
Oh my God, he just asked for his knightmare. We ARE repeating episode 2.
C2 calls out his hamminess. I am pleased.
Guilford! He wants to fight but they won't let him because they need him to entertain the Chinese guy.
Oh s***. LASER-ARM!
And Lelouch is back in "I know exactly what is going on and what you need to do" mode. These men with tiny capes are useless!
Alright, Kallen's breasts wants answers.
Emperor and Suzaku giving vague exposition.
"This is a weapon for destroying God" Oh, so I guess we're going full-blown stupid mode. Time to strap myself in.
Kallen's breasts are wondering if he used geass on him. Apparently she hates Lelouch but loves Zero. Whatever. And Lelouch points out her outfit.
Here comes the reinforcements.
"That clears all tasks at hand." Oh, how I've missed that.
Oh hey, even though there was only 6 of them earlier, the Black Knights just had like 10 of them killed. Whatever.
Ass-shot.
New Knightmare! I bet it's Suzaku, since it's based on the Lancelot. It can teleport, too! It flips around like Suzaku, but whoever's piloting it doesn't look like he's wearing what Suzaku was wearing. Probably isn't him. Especially since Lelouch just said it wasn't him. D'oh.
Still teleporting.
Did he just stab himself to stab the knightmare behind him? Cool. He learned from the Vader/Maul fight. Of course, he's dead.
"Uncivilized monkeys!" Hahahawhat.
OK, they blew up a building and dropped it on the new viceroy. Shock.
CRAZY LAUGHTER!
Guilford assumes control. And guess who shows up screen.
I AM... ZERO. F*** yes, you are. Your hammy ass is back. And Deithard is creaming himself. Good for him.
Speech time!
They're in the Chinese Federation! They apparently rode down the building. You tricky bastard.
Oh hey, Nina. Glad to see you're still alive. Wait, nope. That's definitely not it.
He geassed the Chinese guy. Good. I would have geassed him to make him less flamboyant, but that's just me.
And here comes the Teleporting Knightmare. It's Rolo! Oh snap, he's got a geass, too. That's 2 new geass users in two episodes! At this rate we'll have at least 25 by the end of the season! Rolo must be able to teleport with his geass. Not a bad one to have.
Overall, liked this episode a lot more. Had more of what I like about Code Geass, and a lot of the questions I had from the first episode were explained. The biggest ones being why Lelouch couldn't remember and what exactly happened at the end of last season. Also, I wonder how Lelouch is going to handle the Rolo situation. And the fact that the Black Knights are now on Chinese soil, it makes for an interesting dynamic going forward. Especially since he geassed that Chinese leader, is it possible that he's going to turn the Chinese into his biggest ally to take on Britannia? He keeps talking about obtaining a power to take them on, perhaps he's referring to them? If I wasn't so tired, I'd probably watched the next episode.
Biggest complaint: lack of Rivalz. He usually carries the show.
Season 2 Turn 03
Edit
Going to try and keep this a bit shorter.
United States of Japan starts with ONE ROOM.
Rolo goes to active his geass, only to find out Lelouch is back at school. Oh-ho-ho-ho. Lelouch you clever f***. Although, shouldn't Lelouch be more concerned (or rather falsely concerned) about the fact that Rolo was in terrorist attack? That's pretty lame.
CAT-FIGHT! Not really. Lelouch is now cooking. Oh god is this going to be a filler episode? I've got that feeling. Oh look, force attempts at humor. This is super, really.
Ok, so now we care about Rolo and Lelouch being in a terrorist attack. And now Lelouch is pointing out the fact that everyone's mind has been wiped. Thank you for finally pointing out this crap.
Oh hey, secret underground base. Villetta and Rolo are working together! Apparently they're trying to lure out C2?
Exposition! Flashbacks! Fighting!
I see Suzaku is still using the Lancelot. How come everyone has a giant fighting robot now? Are we officially done with any sort of ground troops?
Rolo is trying to catch Lelouch. Lelouch is too damn clever for your stupid tricks. Instead, Rolo freaks out about some locket.
Ah, so that's how Rolo's power works. He doesn't teleport, he freezes people. Oh, and apparently they can't share info about geass to others so they have... kill their own men? Really? That's your solution? It seems like that's incredibly short-sighted? Won't they notice or care? I'm really not liking this.
Kallen is naked. What's new?
Ah, they're going to kill all the Black Knights to get Zero to come out for a duel. Nice plan.
"She seems to enjoy liquor." Ha.
So he wears a contact to block his geass. Nice cop-out but whatever. And the student council is going to spy on them. And apparently... that was Lelouch's plan? I gotta see how this works out.
They spy on him outside of the school as well. Lelouch is still saying this is part of his plan. Time to geass some fools.
Ah yes, a flashback to that rather poorly handled Shirley storyline. I'll have to talk about that sometime later.
Time for the plan to be enacted.
"All tasks at hand have been cleared." I love that part. So he geassed that guy to set off a fire-alarm right after a bomb threat.
Aha! Gotcha b****! Lelouch has got Rolo. Oh no! Rolo geassed him right back and took his gun.
Nice set up for the next episode. Looks like the Chinese have had enough of the Black Knight's s*** and Rolo has Lelouch at his mercy. Should be interesting how he convinces Rolo not to kill him.
As for the episode itself... meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh. The fact that Shirley is still even a part of this show is frustrating, and the fact that she's madly in love with Lelouch AGAIN is kinda annoying especially since we've already had her memory erased twice. I do like Lelouch's plan, it's actually set up very well, and it made sense to him to geass Rolo onto his side rather than eliminating him. Of course, now it's going to take some sweet-talking on his side. The episode seems all set-up really. I'm assuming the next one will be the payoff.
Season 2 Turn 04
Edit
Ok, neat-flashback with Rolo. He's been a child assassin. Nice exposition and explanation of his point and purpose, I suppose.
Lelouch explaining what I already figured out. Lelouch begins manipulating Rolo.
OK, so Lelouch is staring right at Rolo with his geass activated and... nothing. Especially since that's the WHOLE GOD DAMN REASON EUPHEMIA MURDERED A BUNCH OF JAPANESE. God dammit, why is this so inconsistent? Right then and there, it should have geassed the s*** out of Rolo no matter what.
Heh, C2 can't put a gun together.
So they're going to kill that Chinese guy. Good, his voice pisses me off.
Rivalz got his bike back! Thank god that story was finally closed. I was at the end of my seat!
Ok, so underground spies are confronting Villetta about the fact that Rolo is MURDERING THEM. Thank you. I don't feel like I'm going insane anymore!
Guilford looking at a Cornelia photo. She's missing, not dead, by the sounds of it.
Oh snap, they killed that Chinese leader with a spear attached to a rope! That dude is totally going to be called Scorpion for the rest of the watch-through.
There's only two guys working those computers in the spy-base. Is that all that's left? Oh, and a Dalton reference? Does anyone give a s*** about that guy? Who cares, he's about to get geassed.
Rolo is good at replicating voices? That's super.
Zero for the save! What type of sneaky plan do you have?
Deithard is planning something. I wonder.
Yeah, like they're actually going to duel.
The Chinese leader was called a Eunuch? That would explain the voice!
And here comes the plan. He's dumping them all overboard while he rides his shield like a surfboard. That's... something. They got dropped off into Chinese territory.
Oh s***, Kallen making a Lelouch like speach. He's wearing off on her.
Rolo is hunting down Lelouch! Ha, Rolo is screwed! He's... gonna be saved by Lelouch? This is getting really, really stupid. Now Lelouch explains how he's his little brother and all that nonsense. So Lelouch clearly hates him but he's going to save him? So Rolo returns the favor. And Lelouch is still protecting him? I gotta assume this is part of some larger plan by Lelouch.
Tearful reunion! Rolo is having a breakdown.
Ok Lelouch is now explaining the ridiculous Xanatos Gambit. Yep, he hates Rolo. Figures. Nothing is ever straight forward on this God damn show.
Schoolzaku returns!
I always enjoy these type of episodes more. It's less set-up and more "Lelouch proves he's smarter than everyone." Are they a bit ridiculous in terms of how ridiculously convoluted these plans are? Yes. But that's part of the charm. Most times, Lelouch thinks of everything. And it's only on the rare occasion where he's completely screwed. And it's not like Yu-Gi-Oh where its like "OH NO, THAT MOVE HAS ME COMPLETELY SCREWED" then five seconds later "HA, YOU PLAYED RIGHT INTO MY STRATEGY" or something stupid. Lelouch is a genius, he's supposed to be able to clown most of these fools. But generally, it's been two set-up episodes and two pay-off episodes. And the next one looks like a complete filler so that's gonna be it for tonight.
Season 2 Turn 05
Edit
Celebrate good times, c'mon!
Zero pull this completely out of his ass. "Yes, I completely abandoned you because we would end up winning!" And Tohdoh believes it. You are a damn moron.
Ohgi speech!
Back at school, Lelouch is terrified that Suzaku is back. "The White Death" huh?
FLASHBACK! Awwww, they look so cute. Exposition, again. God dammit, that's what I hate about watching episodes like this. I don't need to be reminded of this crap, I know it pretty well. I don't have ADD.
Oh hey, they're being friendly to each other. TENSION'D! And apparently this was part of Lelouche's plan? God this guy is ready for everything.
The cat still hates Suzaku. I like that cat.
Secret underground headquarters!
Geass time! So Rolo is completely on Lelouch's side now? You gullible bastard!
Who is this douche and why does he get a Transformer? I mean, Variable Knightmare Frame.
Gino is totally gay for Suzaku. I can feeeeeeeeeeeeeel the sexual tension.
"Meeeeeeooooow." Oh my god. Here comes the filler.
Lelouch doing the big brother act with Rolo. Seriously, for a child assassin you are way too easy to trick.
Stoic child character is stoic.
C2, damn you and your love for pizza. You're going to get everyone killed! And then there will be no pizza for you ever!
This is so awful. Villetta is pretty much naked. I feel like a perv watching this.
Milly and Suzaku interacting. More pointless babble.
V2, huh? Are they siblings or something?
And C2 gets shoved into a giant trash compactor filled with tomatoes.
And Kallen is in a giant otter costume, and we get a nice ass-shot.
Oh the zaniness! Gag me with a spoon.
Lelouch is such a pansy. Even Milly in that ridiculous outfit could outrun him.
More zany antics.
Dammit, Villetta, pull up your God damn thong. So many whores on this show.
"Ohgi kept a secret from me?" Dense as hell.
Time to blackmail Villetta! Ha!
Lelouch and Suzaku alone on the roof. Suzaku explains his motivations. Not a bad idea, really, but it's a complete ass-pull that there's a position in the military that lets you take over a country.
Nunnally! She remembers Lelouch, too! Looks like Lelouch just got Screwzakued.
OK, for a filler episode it was OK. The whole goofy antics part made me groan big time, but at the very least there seemed to be some storyline progression. And a nice cliffhanger, too. However, I'm gonna have to hold off on watching the next episode for now. But honestly, I just don't care for the student council. Shirley's annoying, Milly's pointless, Rivalz is, well, Rivalz. Really, any episodes that have a large focus on the school (in a normal setting) rub me the wrong way. Gino is quite annoying and Anya doesn't do anything for me so far, but hopefully as the episodes progress, they'll start to grow on me and/or get better.
Season 2 Turn 06
Edit
Petrified Lelouch is petrified.
You can't lie to Nunnally? Why the f*** not?
Rolo for the save! And now you're telling Nunnally to lie. So she should lie but not you? What a dick.
Britannia crap going on. Lloyd is so awesome. He just doesn't give a s***. Everyone is pissed.
So apparently Nunnally is going to Area 11. And she's the new Viceroy, I assume.
Back to China! I hate the Eunich's so much. F*** these guys. Oh God, anime children. Please shut up please shut up please shut up.
Exposition exposition exposition this is boring as crap.
"I shall slay the God" this is so stupid. V2 is Charles brother. What.
The Black Knights are going after the new Viceroy! And they're carrying their Knightmares on helicopters.
Zero/Lelouch showing b****es how it's done.
"If I had known this was possible I would have brought Lord Guilford along." Jerk.
"Die." Do you have to make them kill themselves? Why not say "Go away" or "leave Zero alone." Those guys could be innocent. What an ass.
Guilford rescue! Oh hey, they have float-units now.
This season should be called "everyone gets a new Knightmare."
There's a lot of crap happening and I have nothing really to comment on.
This General is so f***ing dumb. He shoots his own engines in order to not get demoted. How the hell did Britannia conquer anything with idiots like him in charge?
"You're saying they sent a blind crippled girl to win everyone's sympathy?"
Well, duh. I mean, you'd have to be an idiot not to...
"Then you're wrong."
Nevermind.
Oh, she ASKED for it. That means they totally let her take that position because of her qualifications, such as her inability to see or walk.
You really want to change the world for this Zero? Really?
Oh god, bringing back the Special Zone. At the very least you should rename the damn thing.
Wheelchair beacon. HA!
I love that music when the Lancelot launches.
How many times are Kallen and Suzaku going to fight?
"Tag, you're dead." Heh.
Hey, you know how this season should be called "Everyone gets a new Knightmare?" Kallen gets a new Knightmare! LASER ARM has been replaced by MISSILE ARM.
Apparently she can now fire the laser arm.
"Dirty shoes." What the f*** is wrong with this girl? How many times is Suzaku going to get stuck with that same thing? Oh wait, they finally did something about it.
So much technobabble.
Wait, Zero and Nunnally have been standing their the whole time? "I can't take her by force. That would traumatize her." Uh, why exactly? OK, you're going to try and kidnap her anyways.
Suzaku comes in for the save, Lelouch is upset blah blah blah.
Actually, I liked this episode contrary to the commentary. Good action, another one of Tohdoh's main force gets killed, Nunnally's re-introduction actually carries an important role more than "Lelouch must save her" and I'm quite curious how people will reach to the second attempt at a Special Administrative Zone of Japan. Even more important, how will Lelouch react (other than the initial reaction).
Season 2 Turn 07
Edit
Emperor Charles is pissed and yelling at random people. I can't believe a guy with that kind of hair has the balls to say any of that stuff.
Rolo staring creepily over Lelouch's bed. This boy is flat-out obsessed with Lelouch.
Milly had gigantic breasts. That's all I have to say about this Student Council crap.
Speach time. "87th in line to the Imperial Thrown." God damn, girl. You have a lot of people to kill before you get to the top.
Lloyd smirk!
"Tragic Misunderstanding?" That's all you call it? Yes, genocide was just a misunderstanding! Seriously, Lelouch. This is your reason to do all this crap.
Depressed Lelouch is depressed. I guess he's going to pull a "Spider-Man No More" crap.
Take that, you stupid cell phone!
Black Knights don't know where Zero is.
"Grown up men have basic physical needs." Oh my God, what?
Lloyd eating Guilford's sandwich. Suck it, b****. Oh wait, the sandwich was terrible. Nevermind.
Lelouch going on a complete Geass-fest. Nunnally is freaking him out!
So he's Geassing them to do push-ups, dancing, squats, howling, and applaud. Evil laughter time!
C2 is talking to herself. O....k?
5 seconds of student council was 5 seconds too long.
Lelouch! Don't do it! Hugs not drugs!
OK, so now Lelouch is going to make out with Kallen.
*slap*
OK, I guess not. Kallen is quite upset with Lelouch. Not surprising.
Oh here comes Rolo. I'm sure he'll be as creepy as ever. Trying to convince him to give up Zero, the Knights, and even Nunnally. What the f***? Rolo! Personal space. Good lord, are you planning on making out with him?
OH S***! Seazaku's got you now! Black Knights are so screwed.
Student council ugh.
"For the life of me I can't remember who taught me how to make them?" Thank God you referenced the fact that none of them remember a thing. I had completely forgotten.
FLASHBACK: Shape of the happiness is glass. That's a weird analogy.
KABOOM BABY! Suzaku is ready to take down some Knights!
Wow, they're going all out here to take them down.
Zero with the save! How the f*** does he always know exactly what to do?
These people are useless without Zero.
Methane-Hydrate.
Did he just yell out "Bubbles! AHHHH!" That's some interesting final words.
Yes, this music is so awesome.
DRAMATIC HAND GESTURE.
So it looks like Zero is going along with the Special Zone... again. I would be pretty damn surprised if this wasn't part of some massive plan of his, but I'm really not sure what.
Not a bad episode. A little slow as most of the episode is Lelouch being depressed, though it's pretty damn lame how he snaps out of it (THROUGH THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP!)
I'm really tired of anything related to the Student Council. They have worn out their welcome big time, and I'm hoping they get little to no screen-time going forward. I think the double-life aspect needs to be dropped and that he should full embrace the responsibilities of Zero, especially since I get the feeling that something big is going down in this next episode.
Season 2 Turn 08
Edit
Black Knights are confused. Thinking about mutiny.
This kid Empress is pissing me off.
"What is Japanese?" Interesting question.
No one is signing up for the Special Zone. That's a f***ing surprise.
Shirley has a wedgie. More at 11.
Who is this b**** ordering around Nunnally? I hope she dies by the end of the episode.
Student Council yawn. Oh hey, they know that Kallen still exists. How many f***ing times is Suzaku going to say the exact same thing about his memory.
Oh hey, Suzaku's been geassed to "live." That's very... open to abuse, isn't it? I mean, does that mean he'll stop eating fatty foods because it's more likely to make him die? Why wouldn't he quit the military all together? Whatever.
Rolo, shut the f*** up about Lelouch keeping his promise. Heh, blackmailing Villetta.
Ahahaha what is up with this guy's hat? I can't take this guy seriously at all. Oh hey, Nina. Die in a fire.
Suzaku wearing a gi.
Oh, her bomb didn't work. She's a failure in every aspect! Actually, why is this crazy b**** working for the government and not locked away in an insane asylum.
Oh s***, everyone hates Suzaku. Gino: Mood Breaker.
Oh damn. Cecile's rockin' that dress. Even HBIC noticed (and disapproves because she's a b****).
Lloyd seriously doesn't give a s***.
Zero wants to be exiled. 1 million will go into the Special Zone. Oh, I gotta see what he's up to here. It's gonna be good. Pissedzaku isn't happy.
Oh my God, get over her, Suzaku!
Gino is way too happy about the idea of cracking down on the 11's.
Oh hey, Villetta DOES love Ohgi. Awwwwwww.
Xing Ca is dying. Can't wait to see his tragic death!
So the Black Knights are among the 1 million 11's. This is most definitely going to be good.
He asks what it is to be Japanese again. Suzaku says it's in the heart. I think I know where this is going.
GAS
Ahahahahahaha hahahaha Yes Yes This is nearly physically impossible and it's great. All of them dressed up like Zero. Meaning they'll all be exiled. Those clever bastards.
And they're leaving on a giant iceberg. What the hell?
Ohgi trying to defend Villetta. Sexual tensioned!
Standoff time! We get the thoughts of Lelouch and Suzaku.
More Euphy flashbacks.
Suzaku outsmarting HBIC by pointing out the fact that they're getting rid of the underbelly.
Why is the maid there again?
So yeah, this is a big episode in terms of implications moving forward. I'm wondering if this means a lot of the season won't take place in Japan. This is definitely an episode I've been waiting for. The whole "return to the status quo" and "retreads of old plot lines from season 1" seems to finally be over. And honestly, Zero's plan was so ridiculous, the fact that it succeed was so awesome. Wonder where they're going now.
Season 2 Turn 09
Edit
Some facts about the Chinese Federation. China sucks, apparently.
That's where the Japanese ended up! They have their own little island now!
Oh God, Eunuchs are going to be around more. Tamaki saying what we're all thinking.
Aww, it looks like they're going to live in peace now! Time for some personnel placement.
Whoops, they're going to take down China. It looks like they're not going to live in peace.
KallenxLelouch time. I'm sure the shippers loved that.
Wait, so that little kid is getting married? She's like 10! That guy totally looks like pedophile, too.
Schneizel, you rat bastard.
Odysseus is so f***ing creepy. That poor girl.
LloydxMilly. Every woman likes to show off their racks
"Public and Private." Schneizel is bi-sexual, heh.
And apparently he brought Nina. So he'll be full-blown gay after tonight!
Apparently there was a plan to overthrow the Eunuchs already.
Xing Ke flashbacks! Apparently he was saved by the empress. He made a promise to her.
Nina and Milly argue. Nina being a complete b**** per usual. Nina, shut the f*** up. Seriously, shut it. Forever. Die. Go. Away.
And the Eunuchs need to shut the hell up, too.
This little girl is owning the s*** out of Suzaku. You go, Lady Kaguya!
His plan is to geass everyone, huh. Schneizel wants Zero to remove his mask.
CHESS TIME!
Gino hitting on Kallen. Kallen rejecting. KallenxLelouch shippers rejoice.
THIS IS NOT HOW YOU PLACE CHESS.
Maybe you're overthinking this a bit, Lelouch.
And Nina ruining another fine evening. This woman is so f***ed up. Oh my god, she's a racist, too. Seriously, this woman is so screwed up, and we're letting her develop super weapons? Seriously, Britannia. This is why you can't defeat a 17 year old at f***ing war.
Seriously. It's like a 40 year old marrying a 10 year old.
Xing Ke to the rescue!
"What about Milly?" *cat looks up* Heh.
Xing Ke is unstoppable. And Zero swoops in to f*** his plans up.
"Oh, am I? *evil laugher*" I love you, Zero.
JEREMIAH F***ING GOTTWALD, MOTHERF***ERS. Bout damn time you showed up, though I'm curious how you managed to survive last season. Nice mask.
Another quality episode. Other than the whole 10 year old getting married, I'm glad the series is doing more with the political intrigue aspect. And it's fun watching Zero squirm a bit before making his move. Sometimes he needs to struggle a bit to make his inevitable triumph that much sweeter. Xing Ke's subplot was pretty interesting, too, as we didn't really know too much about him until this episode. It makes me wonder how he'll play out as an antagonist to Zero and what will happen with him and the Empress. Nina is such a horrible character, and I don't mean that in terms of she's badly written, but just that she's generally not a person with liking in the slightest. The over-obsession with Euphemia, her general lack of dignity and grace, and then her trying to prove a point to Milly? Ha. This girl is heading towards a massive fall. I can just feel it.
Season 2 Turn 10
Edit
Run for your lives!
Tohdoh going up against Suzaku. New and exciting.
Quit saying "Schniezel!" it's pissing me off the way he says it.
Tohdoh has an upgrade. "Shadow Long Sword!" Lancelot loses it's float unit, meaning it can't pursue.
For the love of God. shut up you God damn Eunuchs. Seriously, who's decision was to make them sound like that?
What the hell are all those stickers on the windshield?
Is Zero trying to explain his political strategy to a 10 year old? Really?
Dead end, but it was really an ambush by Zero! This f***er plans everything.
Xing Ke and the Eunuchs making a deal.
Zero exposition go.
Oh s***. A new Knightmare. Xing Ke is going wreck some people good now.
"You shall not pass!" You tell them, Gandalf!
Oh my God. The Empress is sitting in a very revealing position. Albion must have loved that.
Ah, Xing Ke's Knightmare has some special power that was never used before. "Heavenly Particle Shocking Cannon." Stupid, stupid name.
Kallen is captured! Oh no!
Zero promises to save her. Awww, he does care.
Diethard suggests abandoning Kallen. Everyone doesn't like it. Including Zero. "We're going in now!"
"The difference between strategy and tactics!" So which one is Zero following here?
Suzaku looking at pictures with Milly and that weird girl. Holy s***, that purple haired girl's rack is bigger than even Villetta. Why is Milly groping Shirley? And the face she's making...
Aww yeah, Black Knights taking on the Chinese. This should be good.
Zero leading the way.
Xing Ke with a good counter move. Zero claims another counter. Xing Ke counters back. Holy s***. Zero just got messed up!
Zero doesn't know what to do. Diethard pulls an "I told you so" and Zero agrees.
Xing Ke is dying.
The Black Knights are holed up in a giant cemetery in a mountain.
The Eunuchs betray Xing Ke. Shock. Shock, I say!
And now the Knights of the Round show up.
And Lelouch is at... school? What the f***? And that's the end.
Another solid episode. Having Zero's counter-plan backfire was a nice change of pace. Usually its when Zero's original plan falls through that he's forced to retreat. The fact that his original plan AND counter-measure both failed that it actually made a nice change of pace. For the most part, good action, nice suspense, and a little development for Kallen/Lelouch's relationship. Zero put himself in a bad situation to try and rescue Kallen, and there could be some fallout since he failed. I wonder what Kallen's reaction will be, assuming she is rescued.
Season 2 Turn 11
Edit
STUDENT COUNCIL TIME! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Well, it was short lived.
What. What. What.
The fake Lelouch is the maid. Are you f***ing kidding me? No. No. No. No. No. No. No.
No.
How come there's only three members of the Knights of the Round doing anything?
Oh, s***. DROPPIN' BOMBS!
Xing Ke is upset. Oh now I remember why I didn't want to continue. F*** the Eunuchs.
Knights vs Xing Ke. Should be good.
What the f*** is up with Kallen's breasts? Jesus.
No. No. No. The fake Lelouch is the Maid. No.
Suzaku vs. Tohdoh again? Please God no.
Zero wants to negotiate. Eunuchs are still god awful.
Well, while they're negotiating, looks like the Knights are having a battle with the Black Knights.
Empress whining, decides to run outside and get her dumb ass killed.
God Gino is such a douche.
Xing Ke with the save. "It has to be you and I together!" That's really awkward having a 10 year old say that to like a 30 year old.
Oh s***. Another new Knightmare Frame. And Zero is piloting it! He's ready to f*** some people up!
And it's powered by a keyboard! This is awesome!
Shinkiro with a supershield.
And now he's giving Xing Ke a lecture.
No. No. No. The maid is fake Lelouch. F*** that noise.
RIOTING! China is going all Vancouver! Apparently there's a big uprising all over the country. Oh, and its because Zero broadcast his conversation with Eunuchs. They're boned now!
Oh hey, something weird is happening to Anya and C2.
Huh. Schniezel agrees to withdraw. The Eunuchs don't have the support of the people, so there's no point in allying with them.
And Xing Ke goes all Episode III Anakin on the Eunuchs. Thank. You. God.
But the Britannians now have Kallen!
Meanwhile, in a random desert.
JEREMIAH GOTTWALD F*** YES!
Pinky Swear of Destiny!
No. F*** you, Code Geass! The maid isn't allowed to dress like Lelouch.
Deithard says the Empress should marry someone of Japanese descent. Zero thinks Tohdoh or even Tamaki would work. Actually, yes, make Tamaki and the Empress marry. Do it. Do it now!
Lady Kaguya interrupts. Now there's a debate.
Tamaki trying to ask for something, Zero doesn't give a s***. Zero is asking Shirley for relationship advice. "Love is power." No it isn't. Shut up Shirley.
DRAMATIC POSE!
Empress gets to marry whoever she wants! "Power of Heart!" Fool. Everyone knows Heart is the worst power.
Oh hey, Shirley the dips*** that she is able to notice there's something wrong with Lelouch. Maybe because HE'S THE F***ING MAID.
Oh s***, Lesbian action. Well, kinda.
Wait, so now there's an entire city of people with Geass? The hell? How did we go from 1 to like a million people?
Lelouch is back at school. Shirley is upset. What sort of wacky hi-jinks will happen next?!?
And apparently Gino and Anya have also joined the school. "I am really looking forward to this... old man." The hell does that even mean?
OK, so this episode is setting up some plot points I'm not digging whatsoever. The biggest being the Geass City. I didn't like the fact that other characters had Geass. Now there's an entire city of them. For one thing, it takes away from the uniqueness. Lelouch had a unique gift that only a couple of people in the show had. Now, every passing episode it seems to expand. Characters that didn't have Geass before now have it. And now they're going after an entire city full of them. Ugh.
Another combat heavy episode, thought I find myself liking Gino less and less. Maybe because his attitude just seems way out of place.
Finally, Kallen getting captured by the Britannians. Not too big of a deal except Zero/Lelouch seems to have shifted his plans rather quickly, focusing on taking down the Geass City. Which means more than likely that Kallen will not be interacting with Lelouch for a long while. I kind of wanted to see which way their relationship would go, or how the inevitable rescue would affect their relationship. For now, it seems like it's been put on hold, which is disappointing.
Finally, the Fake Lelouch thing. I get that having a cover at the school made sense, but why is this maid suddenly an important character? Why did they have to have someone actually wear a Lelouch mask? Why couldn't they have them tell the Student Council that he'll be on vacation for a while? Especially since he returned to the school after sometime (no idea how long but couldn't be too long). Why is it that this made doesn't understand how to act like Lelouch in the slightest? Is she f***ing dense? Just.... aaaaaaaaaaaargh, I hate this I hate this I hate this. And I assume that next episode will be more school "HILARIOUS HI-JINKS" which makes this plot point even more annoying.
Once I power through episode 12, I hope I'm done with stupid stuff like that.
Season 2 Turn 12
Edit
Lelouch finds out what the maid has been up to.
Lelouch isn't too upset, Rolo is pretty freaked out.
Oh, and the maid set up 108 dates. OK, this is the stupidest moment in Code Geass history.
Shirley and Milly naked. Butt shots, too. I feel really pervy right now.
Shirley is pissed now that she knows Lelouch is a Pimp Daddy. Or rather the maid is Pimping it up. Ugh.
MONTAGE! Maid telling us exactly what we see is happening. Thank you, I'm stupid.
Shirley is upset. Lelouch tries to escape. Anya stops him. Oh s***! Picture of Lelouch as a member of the royal family! Busted!
"Lelouch is too frail." Rolo wants to stick it in Lelouch. It's pretty obvious at this point.
Shirley yelling at Lelouch. Milly has an ass on her head. OK, we have a new stupidest moment.
Cupid Day? If you steal the hat of another person, you get to have sex with them by order of the student council! OK, so not sex but you're declared an official couple? I. Am. Going. To. Hate. This. SOOOOOOOOOO. Much.
Bunch of Britainnias talking amongst themselves. Exposition, exposition, exposition.
Huh, Cornelia is still missing. Britainnia going after Chinese territory. Good plan right there, just need the approval of the Emperor.
Knight of One has his eye shut. "War has historically been an action favored by idiots."
CORNELIA!
Meeting time! This is boring and stupid.
You know, Gillford shares the same voice as Ezio and Sonic the Hedgehog? Now you know.
Kallen is OK, and here somes Nunally!
Lelouch still dealing with that idiot maid's decisions. I really, really hate this episode so far.
Oh hey, they mention the fact that Shirley tried to MURDER Viletta.
Milly starting Cupid Day. More like STUPID Day. Really f***ing stupid day.
Shirley and Rivalz thinking to themselves. Stupidly. Like, has Rivalz ever been important to a storyline? Is his crush on Milly have any f***ing point? No. It does not. Just like this episode.
Lelouch and Rolo alone in an enclosed environment. This should prove interesting.
Meanwhile, at Camp Geass! Cornelia trying to find out what the hell is going on, whereas fat-f*** just wants to go home.
MORE WHACKINESS! Lelouch figures out that the Gino and Anya are pretty much harmless based on their actions, thus rendering the whole plot twist of the last episode completely pointless!
Some girl just stole Lelouch hat. Lelouch responds by giving her permanent brain damage, I mean Geassing her into returning the hat. Just in case you forgot he had that ability!
Heh, the cat has two butts on his head.
And the maid is hopping around like a ninja. "Watch what you have me say, or I'll come as being kinda mental." Uh, Lelouch? Pretty sure you ARE mental. You want to destroy the whole damn world for your little sister.
Hey, if one of the guys takes his hat, do they have to be boyfriend and boyfriend? You have to turn gay because Milly said so dammit!
Half-naked women will not stop Maidlouch!
Rivalz shut the f*** up.
And now Anya is running around in the Mordred? For the love of f***, Code Geass. Stop. Just... stop.
Twin Lelouch's?
"This is wrong?" Anya was born without common sense.
Now Shirley asking for Lelouch's explanation for kissing her. Wait, is Shirley implying they should have casual sex?
I just realized that Shirley has giant eyes.
Ah, I see what you did here, Code Geass. Remove Kallen from Lelouch's life to explore the nature of Shirley and Lelouch's relationship. I wonder how far it will go, as Kallen looks to be tied up for a while.
Everyone thanking Milly! Awwwwww die in a fire, please. Now she's a weather reporter? That was a quick transition.
She called off her engagement to Lloyd? What a b****! Lloyd is the best character in Code Geass! F*** you! I hope this is the end of the Student Council forever!
Jeremiah just used a "Geass Canceller" huh. Looks like he's going directly after Lelouch. Oh, this might just make all this crap worth it! Well, not really.
Oh, and now Shirley remembers everything. So we're going to repeat yet another season 1 storyline! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
I really, really don't like this episode. I think it's probably the worst episode in season 2, maybe in the history of Code Geass. I just don't give a s*** about the Student Council. I don't care about Milly overcoming whatever the f*** she was having problems with. I don't care about Rivalz pointless crush on Milly that goes nowhere. And I am really tired of Shirley especially since it's the THIRD time she's had the revelation that Lelouch = Zero. It's a really tired act. The "wacky" antics come off as forced so badly and none of it is particularly entertaining. Having to sit through that crap, ugh, at the very least the ending has a great set-up for the next episode. Not the Shirley storyline again, but rather having Jeremiah finally get to confront Lelouch after being humiliated by him multiple times. Also, good to see Cornelia back and seemingly working on her own. Especially since how Pro-Britannia she was for most of the series, now she's just after the truth, so I hope to see how that develops. And I do wonder how long Kallen will be held captive. There really hasn't been any conscious effort to go after her by Lelouch or the Black Knights. Could be interesting fallout for when/if she's rescued.
But seriously, this episode blew. Like, I swear to God I would quit watching forever if it wasn't for the fact that it had a good ending.
Season 2 Turn 13
Edit
Shirley having a ridiculous nightmare. Everyone is wearing masks! "How dare you shoot me?" OK, not exactly how I'd talk to someone who tried to murder me.
This is some interesting symbolism going on, isn't it?
FLASHBACKED!
New opening music! Eh, I liked the music for the first half of the season a lot more. Might have been my favorite of the series. PEOPLE ARE FLYING AT THE SCREEN!
Looks like the Black Knights are taking over. Poor Tamaki, he's only rated 40 and everyone else is above 200 or something.
Rolo/Lelouch interactions are so creepy.
Shirley reflecting on everything she's "relearned." This poor girl is going to snap again.
Lelouch and Shirley at the same mall. And Suzaku shows up, too.
Viletta, your skirt is too tight. Your ass-crack is highly visible.
JEREMIAH MOTHERF***ING GOTTWALD! And he's got giant swords shooting out of his arms. Looks like the Maid is going to take him on.
Cornelia is in Camp Geass. Cornelia's an atheist, apparently.
Oh s***! Cornelia just threw a dagger into V2's head! He's OK, though. And him and the Emperor there vowed to kill God. You know, my brother and I made the same vow. Except it was less "kill God" and more "go fishing" but it's the same basic thing.
"It won't impede Jeremiah Gottwald!" You know he's a badass when he speaks in third person.
Rolo tries to help, the Geass Canceller denies him. Viletta steps in to reveal Lelouch's current location. You know, this is shaping up to be a very good episode. I like how they didn't wait to show off how badass Jeremiah Gottwald is.
Shirley, Lelouch, and Suzaku just walking silently with each other. Each revealing their thoughts, everyone suspicious of each other.
Whoa, Viletta is actually going to help Lelouch? You dare betray Jeremiah Gottwald! You whore!
Shirley thinks they're working together so she decides to... commit suicide? Oh no, she's just clumsy. Per usual.
"Let me go! Let me go!" You crazy f***ing b****.
"I don't want to lose anyone else!" This is definitely foreshadowing.
Wait, so what is going on with Shirley? She knows everything again. She was just trying to kill herself and now everythings hunky-dory? OK, then.
Lelouch is prepared, as usual.
Shirley and Suzaku talking. Interesting that they're talking to each other, and they know everything. "I forgave him." So... is that about her dad's death? Pretty vague here.
Suzaku taking charge!
Black Knights meeting! Tamaki aww yeah.
Ohgi and Viletta talking to each other! oh man.
Shirley runs in the building. Oh God, Jeremiah Gottwald is going to kill her. I guarantee it.
Shirley grabs a gun.
Jeremiah Gottwald has finally cornered Lelouch, but it was all part of the plan. He uses that whats-it-called to stop Jeremiah Gottwald from moving. You know, you think he's gotta be pretty pissed about continually getting owned by Lelouch.
Rolo runs into Shirley. "Do you truly love Lulu?" Is the sky blue? This kid pretty much wants to marry Lelouch at this point.
Jeremiah Gottwald is such a badass, not even being frozen stops him! Makes him bleed, though. Seriously, I love this guy. If he dies here, I'm going to flip.
Jeremiah Gottwald is now asking Lelouch why he decided to become Zero and turned against Britannia. Lelouch reveals who he really is, and why he did what he did, and Jeremiah Gottwald... was there? He was guarding... Lelouch's mother?
What.
What.
No. Seriously, what. I... have nothing. This has got to be the most ridiculous plot twist in the series. Lelouch, how did you not notice that Jeremiah Gottwald was one of the guards assigned to your mother? Jeremiah, how the f*** did you not know that Lelouch was the same Lelouch that you protected?
COME ON! Jeremiah Gottwald was set up to be a great recurring villain! He was personally humiliated by Lelouch several times, and his personal vendetta could have carried this for several episodes! And now he's revealed to have been an ally all along? Or that he should have been? Shame on you, Code Geass. Shame on your for wasting such a great plot point with this stupid plot twist. F*** you sideways with a rusty shovel.
And now he's dead. Whatever. You ruined him anyways.
Guess he's not dead. Whatever. You ruined him anyways.
Shirley and Rolo continue their pissing match of who loves Lelouch the most. Shirley wants to help Lelouch. However, she mentions Nunally, which causes Rolo to active his Geass. Another falling mask.
Lelouch finds Shirley laid out on the floor. She's been shot.
Oh. This is not good.
Shirley reveals that she felt the whole world is spying on her. Shirley giving off a helluva dying speech. Lelouch tries to Geass her into living. "I order you not to die!" I don't think that'll work. Shirley talks about how she's keep falling in love with him over and over no matter how many times she's "reborn." What an odd thing to say, really. Pretty sure this is it for you, honey. You ain't coming back again.
And then she dies. And Lelouch is overcome with grief. And it's almost as if what I wanted to happen in season 1 has finally happened. Hooray, I guess.
OK, other than how completely awful the Jeremiah Gottwald Plot Twist was, this was a very good episode. A good action sequence towards the beginning, good character interaction that didn't require ridiculous filler crap like the student council, and a very good ending, especially with Shirley's final words. Shirley's death was a pretty good moment, though not as good as Euphemia's (mainly because Euphy's had more weight to it due to the events leading up to it). And I like that Rolo finally crossed that moral event horizon and did something that Lelouch will never forgive him for. I can't wait to see how they confront each other. I am actually a little sad to see Shirley go, even though I stated that I felt her death in season 1 would have made sense. But I'm glad the character actually got a pretty dignified death, all things considered. And I love the added weight this should put on Lelouch going forward, and I wonder how this will affect how he treats C2 and Kallen moving forward.
And I'll be honest, I still love Jeremiah Gottwald, even if they ruined him. Hopefully he sticks around and does more Jeremiah Gottwaldy things.
Season 2 Turn 14
Edit
Flashback'd!
Uh... Marianne and C2 knew each other? I guess it was kinda implied at this point. But it seems like everyone at this point knew each other before the events of the first episode. Oh well.
Emperor Charles and V2 having a discussion.
Rolo says Shirley was coming after Lelouch with a gun. Rolo even admits he killed her. Oh this should be...
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Lelouch, dammit man! Shirley was killed! This little a****** did this! KILL HIM! KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILL HIM!
*sigh*
Lelouch wants to go over and finally kill the Geass people, and reassures Rolo that they're still brothers.
I really hope Lelouch is stringing him along for a little while longer only to give this f***er the death he deserves.
Cornelia and V2 interacting. V2's voice really bothers me. Apparently Cornelia renounced her right to the throne. Good for her!
"She shot herself" which is probably going to make Suzaku even more suspicious of Lelouch.
Oh hey, Nina. Way to badmouth the dead you rotten b****. You absolutely lose your s*** when someone you met once gets killed, but a good friend and you go "ho-hum."
"I never imagined I would cry over her like this." So you PICTURED her death? The f*** is wrong with you? Get cancer and die.
C2 talking to herself. Lelouch contacts her and tells her of the plan to "crush" the Geass Order. "She was killed by Geass!" He wants to be the only person in the world to use Geass. This will be a test of C2's loyalty as well.
Oh hey, finally going to address the contract aspect?
Lelouch now addressing V2. Oh s***, it's a trick! Lelouch was posing in Ashford Academy! Now it's time to take down the Geass City!
Oh hey they're shooting... defenseless people.
Nunnally and Kallen now interacting. Nice cleavage. And now here comes Suzaku. He's got a trick up his sleeve.
Now the Black Knights are questioning what the hell they're doing. Lelouch is damn pissed.
BARTLEY NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
What is he rambling about? He's talking to... Clovis?
Italy and Poland have joined the Black Knights! Good work!
Ohgi is under suspicion. That's like... twice he's actually had a subplot involving him. Even though he's like in every friggin' episode. Villetta is planning to kill him!
Little kids with Geass. Creepy as f***. Apparently they can control people.
"Hey I miss all you guys!" And then he murders him...
...
I really despise Rolo. Not because he's a bad character but because he really a pretty bad human being. It's funny because you'd think finally having a family would change him for the better, but it seems he's become worse.
Lelouch is planning to use Rolo as a suicide bomber. I'm down with this.
And here comes the Siegfried! Boy, Jeremiah sure talks about loyalty a lot despite the fact that he seems to switch alliances rather quickly. Britannia, The Geass Order, the Black Knights, etc.
Cornelia is free.
Suzaku breaks the bad news about Shirley to Kallen, and he suspects Lelouch was behind it.
Rolo is trying to get close enough to V2. "You could conk out at any moment!" More like Lolo, am I right?
And Cornelia takes V2 down... really? And they blow the s*** out of the Siegfried. That's pretty strange.
And C2 stops them from running away.
Kallen is getting questioned further by Suzaku and he's going to use... refrain? That's pretty clever by Suzaku but it feels pretty out of character, especially since he's been so "by the rules" for the most part. Though I can sense him slipping slowly each episode.
V2 is heading for a gate, and Charles is there! "You lied to me once again, big brother." I'm expecting a betrayal here.
Black Knights are becoming increasingly upset with this massacre. I suspect they're going to turn on Zero pretty soon. It feels like Zero/Lelouch rushed into this decision because of Shirley's death, rather than a calculated move he always performs. Him getting sloppy usually ends up screwing him over pretty good.
Lelouch got sucked into some alternate world! And its him and the Emperor. "The time for final redemption!" Ok, that makes no sense, but whatever.
Overall, good episode. Some good action, good exposition. I love the fact that Suzaku is slowly becoming what he was so opposed to, that Lelouch is slowly losing his cold indifference towards most things, and actually seems to take losses to heart. He's also becoming what he opposes, he's becoming more and more irrational, and it could end up being his downfall. It's weird how the Geass City fell in one episode, though. It seems like it was built up more as a threat than that. Also, glad to see that Shirley's death is setting in motion some major character AND plot changes, much like Euphy's (though not as strong, obviously).
My only disappointment was that Lelouch didn't confront Rolo. I really feel like Rolo has reached the expiration point on his character and that there's very little room for anything else with him. He crossed that Moral Event Horizon, and it would have been the perfect opportunity for Lelouch to do something with him. Yet he still hangs around. Granted, Lelouch HAD something planned but it didn't work out. But I guess I was hoping for something a bit more one-on-one, so to speak.
The ending is good, though the Emperor's last lines are quite odd. "Redemption?" Who's redemption? His? Lelouch's? Perhaps V2 is there? Good hook for the next episode, though.
Season 2 Turn 15
Edit
Alright! Lelouch vs the Emperor! Son vs Father!
So they're talking to each other! Truly this is the most epic battle of all time!
"Obey Zero!" Rolo, you have a bad choice of words. Jeremiah Gottwald looks at his "creator" and says he will "respect him." That's... quite odd to say. More doubt from the Black Knights.
Lelouch fires a rocket into the air and it explodes into... a bunch of mirrors? Ah, I see he used it to reflect his Geass around so he can look into his father's eyes and use it on him. But... wouldn't the Emperor still be able to see his eyes? I don't know, I'm a bit unfamiliar with how a series of mirrors would work in that situation. Whatever.
He commands him to die and... he does it. Well, that was anti-climatic. "I... won." And then he screams in pain. Ok.
Back to Suzaku vs. Kallen. B**** slap! Suzaku isn't dealing with your s*** anymore and punches her in the gut. Wow, this is pretty dark for Suzaku. And now he realizes he's doing exactly what Lelouch/Zero did. He stops short, obviously.
V2 and C2 interacting. "Now I bare the burden of that destiny. Of immortality." I am confused as s***. "We will never lie to each other!" Yeah... good job on that one, I guess.
Lelouch wanted answers. ZOMBIE EMPEROR! Jesus Christ, that smile.
Charles took V2's power! He's immortal! Hahahahahaha, Lelouch is so boned.
What the hell is going on? They're in a room full of gears and masks.
Villetta and Ohgi talking. Villetta wants to kill Ohgi to protect herself.
"I'm your sworn enemy!" "But I still love you!" Awwwwww.
Emperor and Lelouch yelling at each other. This is so f***ing weird. "You are me and I am you." I think I'm going to give up trying to figure out this s***.
And here comes C2. Alright, they're finally going to explain the contract. Her wish is to... die.
...
You know, I kinda like it. Mainly because being immortal witch seems like a pretty cruel fate after a while. But why does she need a contract to do so? Apparently after having the power of Geass for long enough, she can be killed by the Geass user. "None have ever reached that point, except Charles."
"Living just to die is too sad."
So Lelouch has to kill the Emperor to match him in power. However, he's "too kind" and C2 sends him packing. So the Emperor is going to take C2's power.
Oh hey, we go from freaky magic world to... politics. Hooray for ridiculous changes in tone!
Suzaku is going to school to find Lelouch only to find him not there, surprising. So he sees everyone Geassed and knows for certain.
Suzaku wants to report Lelouch but doesn't want anything to happen to Nunnally. Interesting dilemma for Suzaku, especially since he seems to hold such a loathing for Lelouch at this point.
FLASHBACK'D! Lelouch is having some freaky vision thing. They're C2's memories. Ah, so now we see how C2 became, well, C2. Honestly, the whole "passing on the power" thing actually works pretty well. It's an affliction in a way.
Villetta vs. The Maid. Is the Maid going to fight everyone at some point? Ohgi just got turned into a pin-cushion!
C2's original power was to be loved by everyone. So that explains why Geass is unique to each individual. It's a reflection of what each person wants most in the world. For Lelouch, it was the for people to do whatever he says. For C2, apparently, it was for everyone to love her.
She's past the point of no return in the flashbacks! Double Geass! So... what? Did she kill herself? Did she somehow get C2 to kill her? Well, I guess the nun somehow died at C2's hands, although her evil laughter at the end was a bit much. Hopefully this won't happen with C2.
Lelouch returns! Apparently the Thought Elevator interferes with thought. What a novel concept!
Oh no, the Emperor is going to... kill C2 by kissing her? I can't tell what he's doing to her. Lelouch wants C2 to die smiling, and promises to give her the death she deserves. Interesting thing to say to someone.
Meanwhile, Nina is testing her new bomb. Great, the worst character on the show has a f***ing bomb.
C2 and Lelouch escaped. C2 has... amnesia? Or has she reverted to her personality before she got Geass? Who cares, I have no idea what the f*** is going on.
This episode is incredibly contrived and hard to follow for the most part. It felt less like "The Ultimate Reveal" and more like the writers desperately trying to explain things they didn't feel like they had an explanation for before. Either way, I can see why this season becomes a trainwreck as this episode felt less like a satisfying conclusion to some significant plot points and more like a jumbled mess.
I do understand some of the core concepts, though, even if they're largely contrived. The contract is basically that a person becomes powerful enough with the Geass power that eventually they can kill the person who gave it to them, and inherent their immortality. This is the major plot point taken away, and I hope that its ultimately all I need to take away because the rest was confusing as s***.
Season 2 Turn 16
Edit
EVERYTHING IS BRIGHT!
God, I don't even remember what the f*** is going on so I'm winging this.
The Britainnians are arguing about the fact that the Emperor is missing! So I guess he's stuck there and since no one knows what the hell he was doing, they're in one big Clusterf***! That one b**** keeps trying to mess with Nunnally. Man, I hate that broad.
Lelouch believes he's trapped in C2's World. Yes, I'm sure there's no chance in hell he's coming back. Nope, not a chance.
I see C2 is still suffering from amnesia and/or reverting to her attitude prior to acquiring Geass. God this is... she's trying to strip. I'm OK with this angle now.
JEREMIAH GOTTWALD captured Cornelia. Lelouch taunts her with a younger sister reference (man, I do find myself missing Euphemia).
The Black Knights are still questioning Zero's orders, and Rolo shuts them down. This is going to end well.
Kallen beating the s*** out of Suzaku! Complete with jiggling breasts! Kallen says she's a soldier not a side-show... the hell does that mean? Just happy to see Suzaku get his ass kicked, though it is a bit hypocritical to yell at Suzaku for using the same exact methods Zero/Lelouch uses. But whatevs, kick his ass, Seaba- Kallen!
POLITICS TIME! United Federation of Nations! This s*** is pretty boring, to be honest. It's so completely different from the last episode.
C2 is scared of the TV. Is there any point to this? It's pretty stupid to change C2's personality, especially since it basically renders a lot of their previous interactions pointless. Or if it's temporary, then these current interactions are pointless. It's a lose-lose, really. Anyway, they eat pizza and C2 is still scared by the TV. Oh joy.
Anya and Suzaku interaction! Anya admits she doesn't remember any of her past. And she has record of it, too. Suzaku believes this was the Emperor's doing. Hmmmm, guess we might be going somewhere with Anya after the pseudo-reveal during her brief interaction with C2.
Oh hey, it's Orange-Axel! No, it's Sir Bradley, Knight of Ten! This guy is instantly the smuggest douche on the show, and it only took like 15 seconds. He even name drops Euphemia, and not in a good way! I like him! Suzaku threatens to duel him if he says another word. Seriously, let. It. Go.
"Genius of Homicide." That's a good nickname to have if you're a detective. Not so much if you're a doctor or something.
The Knight of One interrupts all of thise. Bismark Waldstein? Are you f***ing kidding me? That is the stupidest name in this show, which is pretty damn impressive.
Nunnally and Kallen sharing a moment! Bradley shows up. "Vampire of Britainnia." This guy's got a lot of nicknames! And Kallen's breasts are still ridiculous. Gino with the save! F*** you, Gino.
They're putting Nina's giant bomb "Fleya" on the Lancelot. That's great. Really great. It can only end well for all parties. And there's that damn strategy vs. tactics thing!
Anya is always texting.
"You don't consider yourself an 11 anymore." You are such a horrible b****. Lloyd being his usual creepy/awesome self. Semi-threatens Nina. Rock approves (hint: I'm Rock).
ASSEMBLY TIME!
I don't have a lot to say about this stuff. Normally there's something I can enjoy or b**** about it, but... I've got nothing.
Ohgi! He's alive! Yay?
Hahahahahaha Rivalz is all by his damn self! Way to not grow as a character in any way, shape or form!
Jeremiah Gottwald contacts Guilford... why? Guilford is Cornelia's Knight, I assume that's the reason. Is Jeremiah Gottwald still secretly working for Britainnia?
They've decided to make the Black Knights the standing army of the United Federations of Nations and dissolve their own! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Looks like they approve the Black Knights retaking Japan... again. HAND GESTURES! Oh yeah, I like how Rockshotta there is the only one that mentions they can now rescue Kallen. Seems like everyone else forgot!
Oh s*** the Emperor! I am completely shocked! He yells at Lelouch, and sets the stakes: control of the entire world. Yes, one island will cause the complete collapse of either nation!
Lelouch, as expected, is most upset about this. He goes through one his freak-outs that usually go nowhere. He decides to hit C2 in frustration... what an ass!
"Bleeding feels even better when its cold. It feels warm on your outside. It stings a bit, but only on the outside and that's always better then hurt on your inside." ...what.
Lelouch gets an epiphiany from C2 giving a friendship speech! Oh God, it's Yu-Gi-Oh!
Lelouch contacts Suzaku. Lelouch is finally forced to reveal he's regained his memories, and he's begging Suzaku to protect Nunnally. Suzaku tells him he'll protect Nunnally if Lelouch comes back to Area 11 alone. GASP! The confrontation I've been waiting for!
This episode was... kinda boring. Maybe because of the general mind-f***ery and confusion of the last episode, but this one included a lot of exposition that was, while relatively straight forward, was quite uninteresting. It's sad, because the political aspect was such a strong element of the first season, and now I largely don't care about it. The fact that we're heading towards another invasion of Japan is also somewhat disheartening, as we're back to repeating plot points for the first season. Granted, there was no way this issue wasn't going to come back up, but the biggest problem with the whole "reboot" in the first episode was that this was going to eventually happen. And there's two likely outcomes: the Black Knights succeed and take back Japan, which means it's like the end of their story. OR once again they fail to retake Japan. At which point it renders the entire Black Knight storyline a pointless mess. All this work to retake Japan, and somehow it's going to take down the Britainnian Empire? Even if they do have that super-rare macguffin material, it still shouldn't render the entire country default if they lose. The stakes have been raised, yet they're still using the same battle ground to decide it. Just doesn't do anything for me, really.
Sir Bradley is awesome. I love these smug, irredeemable characters that really serve no other reason but to antagonize everyone around them. No one likes Sir Bradley, not even amongst his peers. He's like Mao, only way better!
Great set-up for the next episode, though. Especially since if the confrontation happens in episode 17, we still have several episodes to actually show the fallout of the actions, unlike last time where they were put on the backburner for the sake of an amnesia plot (aka Code Geass' go-to plot point). I hope it's both a satisfying conclusion to the Lelouch/suzaku dynamic while allowing both characters to grow beyond each other, and even better if it finally allows Lelouch to explain why everything happened the way it did. Remember, in the end Euphemia was a tragic accident, and Suzaku should know what really happened, beyond "Lelouch geassed Euphemia and she went on a murderous rampage." In fact, I think Suzaku owes Lelouch in this situation, as Lelouch was put completely at the mercy of the Emperor, who Suzaku definitely fears. It's about time they clear the air and see where everything goes, though going by Code Geass standards I suspect nothing I say will come true and anything left from this will be completely unsatisfactory.
Season 2 Turn 17
Edit
Guilford meeting alone with Jeremiah Gottwald. He's going to reveal Cornelia's location! I knew it! I knew he was a spy!
Opening theme! I just really don't like this one for whatever reason, especially how much I liked the previous one.
FIGHTING TIME! Another invasion!
So the plan is to hold them off in Japan, while the other colonies of the United Federations get invaded by Britainnia.
FLASHBACK! Apparently Suzaku punched Lelouch in the face when they first met. What a great friend!
STAREDOWN!
Crazy laughter! Looks like the Vampire is having fun! I love this guy!
Schniezel is so creepy.
Whole bunch of people talking about different things happening ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Galahad, huh. It's got a giant sword on it's back, too.
Suzaku and Lelouch finally talking. Rather then commenting on each individual item, I think it's best if I simply get my thoughts at the end.
Tohdoh and his subordinates still fighting over whether or not to trust Zero. Tohdoh seems to have complete faith in him.
Oh snap, Diethard gonna blackmail Ohgi!
Brief C2 appearance!
Lelouch and Suzaku continuing to talk. Interesting.
Kallen's boobs are deep in thought. For a prisoner, they treat her like just another person.
Xing Ke vs. ... hehehe Bismark!
EXCALIBER! And it just wiped out a s***-ton of Knightmares!
Lelouch and Suzaku talking. Boot to the head!
A lot of talking here. I'll have some good thoughts about this.
Looks like they're going to team up!
Uh-oh, Britainnians are arresting Lelouch! Lelouch thinks he was set up by Suzaku.
Gino and Kallen talking like they've known each other for years. Seriously, weirdest prison set-up ever. Between the giant cleavage dress and the glass tube jail with a single chair.
Gino asks Kallen why she didn't pick the Britainnia side. Interesting, its the first time someone's tried to tempt Kallen to that side since she's been seemingly abandoned by the Black Knights. This could be going somewhere interesting.
Sir Bradley is throwing a ship and another, bigger ship! This guy is great.
Bismark is giving Xing Ke some props. These type of characters always seem a bit out of place.
Schneizel talking to Lelouch! He offers to spare him from execution. They talk about trust and betrayal. Schneizel is a bit hard to beg down. Everything about his seems so... false. Like any attempts to be nice or humble don't come off as sincere at all. Yet we haven't seen a real dark side to him yet. I'm expecting it eventually.
RED EYES! Apparently the Jeremiah Gottwald thing was wrong, he was Geassed by Lelouch and made so that when he tugs on his collar, Guilford believes he's Cornelia. Guilford busts Lelouch free. Interesting, so his loyalty to Cornelia overrides his loyalty to Britainnia. I wonder how this will play out.
"My first and last friend." Lelouch is not taking this well.
Schneizel confronting Suzaku on Geass related events.
Brief Emperor appearance!
Schneizel is pushing Suzaku hard now, mentioning all the things that are true about him, and guilt-tripping over potential deaths.
Oh snap, he activates something on a bunch of trains that shuts down all electrical equipment. Probably the same thing they keep using on Suzaku!
Brief Milly appearance!
7th Operation! It's another Zero based Sneak Attack! Kinda thought it was better when he collapsed the city. Especially with the crazy laughter and the awesome music.
"NOW I SHALL PROVE MY LOYALTY!" I'm sorry I ever doubted you, Jeremiah Gottwald.
Sir Bradley wants to join the Tokyo fight. Oh man, I wonder who he'll go up against.
Rolo is dressed like a Britainnian soldier and is planning to rescue Nunnally. Ok, Lelouch, do you really think its a good idea to send your jealous fake brother to go rescue your real sister after what happened with Shirley? If Nunnally gets shot...
"Cold and Callous, that's the prescription!" Yes, only by acting coldly to everyone will you be able to save people you care about.
Schneizel is informed of everything by Suzaku. "Answer to the sins of your own heart." Ugh, that's such an awful line.
Suzaku might have to use Nina's super bomb on Lelouch. Oh no!
Alright, let's get this out of the way: the confrontation between Lelouch and Suzaku was a huge disappointment. For one thing, nothing was really settled (despite a half-hearted attempt to reconcile). Suzaku had to know already that Euphy was Geassed and had to know that he was somehow involved with Shirley's death. Confirming these things did nothing, and Lelouch offered only tactical reasons why he did what he did. Nothing felt heartfelt from Lelouch for a lot of the discussion. And Suzaku saw right through that. Suzaku's confrontation about getting Geassed to live was also quite disappointing. He talks about how it "twisted his convictions" and yet, Other than Kamine Island, what impact has "Live" made on his life? Granted, his death wish can never be fulfilled. But it's not like it's caused him to do awful things. Oh no, he started an assassination on his life, what an awful fate. Of course, I find the whole "Geassing him to live" thing to be subjected to abuse anyway. Wouldn't it stop him from doing anything hazardous to his health? Whatever. On the flip side, Lelouch did nothing to justify his actions, only explain them. And STILL refused to divulge the whole truth about Euphemia. Here's my biggest question: why? Why not tell Suzaku the truth? It's your burden to carry? It doesn't really make any sense. Would Suzaku feel any worse if he knew the whole thing was an accident? Hell, it'd be a lot easier to convince Suzaku to help you. I guess the only reason he wouldn't tell him was because Suzaku wouldn't believe him anyway, which is a somewhat fair reason, but I believe that he owes Suzaku the truth. Considering how they talk about getting rid of the lies, Lelouch still tells the single biggest lie of the series. And the biggest problem was that there was no resolution. Lelouch was left thinking Suzaku had betrayed him. They had actually agreed to work together "one last time" but it was cut off by Schneizel. So now what? Lelouch took away from this the absolutely wrong message, Suzaku wasn't given any peace of mind over the death of Euphy. So neither character really grew out of this, and nothing was satisfying enough to end the plot point. So it still lingers for another few episodes (hopefully it ends soon one way or another).
As for the episode itself, the non-Lelouch/Suzaku stuff was OK, if a bit "we've seen this before." Nothing boring, but nothing new. I do find it interesting what Gino was trying to do to Kallen. Obviously, Kallen is loyal to death to the Black Knight's cause, and yet she was seemingly abandoned by the Black Knight. I don't think the writers are playing this angle up enough, or they're keeping it pretty subtle. But it's interesting to think, if Kallen believed she was considered disposable by the Black Knights, how willing would she be to fight for the liberation of Japan? I also find Guilford's actions both in a literal sense (attacking Britainnian soldiers) and a subliminal sense (agreeing to rescue "Cornelia" even if it meant betraying Britainnia). He was just sorta there in most episodes but this has laid some interesting groundwork for the future. It's very much like when Jeremiah Gottwald was geassed and the beginning of the Orange-Boy fiasco. Also, I'm seriously wonder what will happen when Nunnally and Rolo come face-to-face. Rolo is desperate to have Lelouch all to himself. Eliminating Nunnally might be the final hurdle. And if that does happen, if Lelouch loses the one thing he actually cares about, what will happen to him, and what will he do to Rolo? A lot of nice plot points set up. The whole "should we trust him" thing from the Black Knights is starting to drag. I know the route they're going is pretty obvious, though I'm just waiting for the deciding factor that finally nudges them against Zero.
Season 2 Turn 18
Edit
I'm still not digging this opening! It sounds too happy, to be honest.
Zero giving orders. Going after Nunnally, per usual.
Kallen is excited! Gino is being a douche, no shock there.
Schneizel giving orders. Nina is trying to use the Lancelot. What a dumb b****. "More importantly, are you prepared not to fire it?" Suzaku laying it on heavy.
Rolo heading in.
Suzaku going right after the Zero/Lelouch. Threatens him the F.L.E.I.J.A. Zero thinks he's lying. Jeremiah Gottwald with the sneak attack! "Loyalty trumps all!"
"The storm of my loyalty." This loyalty stuff is getting kinda ridiculous. Suzaku holding his own against the "Sutherlund Zieg."
Guilford is so damn confused! Seriously, this stuff has to create brain damage. "Are you able to dissipate my lord's torment?" Good God, Jeremiah Gottwald. You ham it up even worse than Lelouch. And I didn't think that was possible!
Nina suggests firing the the F.L.E.I.J.A. You know, because mass destruction is always a good idea so long as you get ONE person. Nina, go f*** a table covered in barbed-wire.
3 on 1? This hardly seems fair. "No one can defeat a Knight of the Round?" But... they get beat a lot! That seems to be a reoccurring theme! Oh, Gino. Your terribleness is only trumped by your stupidity.
"Orange, you say? That is the name of my loyalty." I... am sensing a theme here. Jeremiah Gottwald seems to think this so called "loyalty" is very important.
Lelouch plans to kill Rolo after he saves Nunnally, while Rolo plans to kill Nunnally because he is clingy as s***. Lelouch, did I not say last time that it was incredibly stupid to send him to rescue Nunnally? And this guy can single-handily take down Britainnia? Uuuuuuuuuuuugh.
"I'm the only family you need." Seriously, what the hell? Also, the Maid always wears that damn hat. It bothers me more than it should.
Interesting, if Nunnally doesn't leave, everyone can't leave.
OK, the sound just went out while Kallen was talking. I hope I didn't miss anything.
Lots of individual battles going on. Lelouch arguing with Suzaku.
Anya shows in the Mordred, close combat style! Going to fire her giant cannon point-blank against his shield. The unstoppable force meets the immovable object!
"Just Tamaki?" What do you mean, "just?" Tamaki has carried the Black Knights from the very beginning! He should be able to help Zero out of this situation!
Oh s***! They're going to execute Kallen! The Maid rescues Kallen! Yay! She's getting her Guren back, too!
They're destroying all the... whatever disturbers! come back train for Britainnians!
They do send Tamaki and he can't figure out where to go! Dammit man, thanks for letting me down!
Anya freaks out, psychedelic style. Someday you're going to have to explain what the f*** is going on, Code Geass. And I expect I won't like it.
Uh oh, they've got the Gawain trapped! And here comes the "Vampire of Britainnia." I hope he survives this battle. I really, really do.
Kallen getting ready to kick ass! Oh s***, it's got wings! And that awesome music is playing! Love this music so damn much.
"Father, I let you down! Forgive me!" Should I know something? Was this guy important? Or his father? Whatever.
Zero is so boned! The Emperor's hair is so goofy! Everything is going badly!
Tamaki gets knocked out of the battle! You useless jerk!
So is Kallen like Sonic the Hedgehog now? Lloyd is so pissed! Why is Cecile smiling? That's a friggin machine of death you created and now it's on the other side! You should be fleeing in terror! Fleeeeeeeeeee!
Sir Bradley and Kallen having a battle! Apparently the arm fires out now. Yes, we get it. You want to take everyone's life.
"Send a postcard." Hahahahaha! Best one liner.
Sir Bradley is dead... awwwww. I really liked him. He only appeared in two episodes, he had potential! Damn you, makers of Code Geass! Daaaaaaaaaaamn you!
Oh, Kallen vs. Suzaku again. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
I like how they just seem to talk to each other on the battlefield like they aren't taking any of this s*** seriously at all.
Tohdoh is making a push, the other Holy Sword member thinks its a good time to a Mutiny! And apparently he's going after Rolo, too.
Cornelia! And she's trying to escape her... whatever she's in.
"Victory is within our reach!" Usually a bad sign.
"Self-centered brat!" What an odd thing to say.
Oh man, s*** going on from all different angles! It's crazy!
...
...
See I figured this s*** would happen after you jerks said he would do something bad! Everyone is freaking the f*** out! Mass hysteria! Oh no! Everything's getting enveloped! Guilford saves Lelouch!
Lelouch asks Rolo for Nunnally. Rolo says they were too late. Lelouch is in denial. And that's how this episode ends.
I will say this probably my favorite episode of the season. Great action, several different angles playing out, a great ending (even though you jerks spoiled it!) and it's got me wondering how things will be going forward (though part of me wonders if Nunnally is really dead, but I think I'll take it at face value with a bit of skepticism). I think what makes this episode work is that there was a legit sense of tension throughout the episode. And it came to a frantic conclusion playing out all sorts of different angles. It's interesting, watching Suzaku trying to get Lelouch to listen to reason, all the while Lelouch seemed to be acting more and more deranged. And to finally hit him with the bombshell that Nunnally is dead, I wonder if it'll lead to a full fledged mental breakdown. It's also interesting how it mirrors Euphemia's death, in the sense that it was a tragic mistake more than anything. Imagine, if they didn't outfit the F.L.E.I.J.A. to the Lancelot, none of this would have happened. Now both Lelouch and Suzaku have experienced a great loss. Perhaps this becomes a type of bonding point for them. Or perhaps it makes Lelouch obsess with killing Suzaku. It could go any number of ways, and seeing how this did not resolve the Lelouch/Suzaku conflict permanently, I'm eager to see how it plays out.
Season 2 Turn 19
Edit
Emperor doesn't give a s*** about the fact that Tokyo is a crater. 10 million people dead... wow. That's a lot!
Nina making the same face that she did when Euphy died... and she's shocked that her weapon of mass destruction caused mass destruction? I can see why she's the worst character on this show. Jesus Christ, she's dense.
And they already have names of all the dead? Suzaku is naturally shocked. HA! The school's outside the blast radiance. Plot convenience is so bad sometimes.
Lelouch is freaking the f*** out. SCARY FACE!
Skipping the musical opening this time.
Ohgi and Viletta run into each other. Awww.
Cornelia vs. Deithard! "Aim for her legs!" Holy s***! Schneizel just landed on a Black Knights flagship!
Seriously, Lelouch is done. He's broken. Rolo trying to insist that it should be just him and Lelouch. Oh, I'm sure this will work out.
And of course he snaps. And he rightly screams at Rolo. "I hate you, I loathe you, I despise you!" Thank you, Lelouch. I hope Rolo kills himself.
Lloyd and Nina sharing a moment. "I'm a sociopath." No you're not, Lloyd! You're an awesome human being filled with awesome quotes!
The Black Knights discussing what to do here.
Jeremiah Gottwald is searching for Nunnally, finds Suzaku instead.
Ha! Playing to Tamaki's ego. I love it.
Jeremiah Gottwald and Suzaku share a completely one-sided conversation. That was... pretty pointless.
Rivalz being awful. Milly wasting time.
And the seeds of mutiny grow. They finally tell the Black Knights who Zero really is! Welp, here it comes.
Oh jeeze, now they're telling him about Geass. Lelouch is really, really screwed. Ohgi and Villetta have turned against him, too! Lelouch doesn't have anything left in this world.
Deithard being the voice of reason. Everyone else being idiots. Ugh.
Oh joy, Euphy reference.
Wow, they're hitting them hard with this evidence. God damn, when Lelouch gets hit with bad news, it's really bad.
Ohgi tries to leverage turning over Lelouch for Japan's freedom. A reasonable request. At the very least, it means the Black Knights weren't a complete waste of time. But they are really piling on Lelouch here. He thinks Suzaku betrayed him, Nunnally's dead, the Black Knights are turning against him. It might be karma for the actions he has taken, but still, I can't help but feel like this is going a bit far.
C2 tries to comfort Lelouch. Another person he's lost. Kallen comes in, I wonder if she's turned, too. Ha! Kallen suspects they were bonking while they were in the cell! Awww, he quickly de-confirms it. I was hoping Kallen's imprisonment would lead to more resentment with Zero/Lelouch.
Zero apologizes for not rescuing Kallen. I guess my theory is officially dead. Good job wasting a good writing opportunity, makers of Code Geass.
IT'S A TRAP!
Kallen is defending him against accusations! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Kallen asks what he means to Lelouch/Zero. He laughes evily! Hahahahahaha! He's playing up the whole "game" angle. I love it.
Zero did it intentionally to save her! He does care!
Rolo for the... save? Really?
Rolo really is creepy. He's using his geass to keep them off him.
This music is really weird for this situation. Rolo doesn't really get it, does he? "I'm not a tool. I do this of my own free will... as a human being!" Oh, so he's Gray Fox.
Rolo says that Lelouch was lying, that Lelouch never tried to kill him and doesn't hate him. Lelouch indulges him in his final moments.
Suzaku is still in that spot. CRAZY LAUGHTER!
Zero has lost everything. But he's got one more thing to do. Take down the Emperor!
Ragnarok Connection, eh? Final Mission? Considering that there's 6 more episodes, this is very long or not your final mission.
Overall, a decent episode. The main storyline is Lelouch dealing with the loss of Nunnally, going through various stages of grief. Denial, anger, etc. I do find it interesting that he's deciding to press on without Nunnally, who was the one constant in his campaign. Everything he was doing, he was doing for Nunnally sake. I also like the hint that he truly does care for Kallen. Perhaps its because she's the only one left. Or perhaps he realized the more involved he is with someone, the more he destroys their life. Or he simply felt he was not worth dying over, and needed to trick her so she would leave his side. Either way, I'm glad to see that Kallen and Lelouch were given a moment. I'm a bit sad that the whole "forgotten prisoner" thing didn't go anywhere. It seemed like such a good setup. Oh well.
But that final sequence with Rolo bothered the hell out of me. I understand the whole "death = redemption" thing they seemed to have going, but I always felt Rolo had passed that moral event horizon. The killing of Shirley in cold blood was an unforgivable event, in my opinion, and I'm disappointed Lelouch never used that against him. In his dying moments, Lelouch indulged him with his fantasy. And the fact that Rolo was OK with being used by Lelouch just because it made him feel "human" didn't really evoke any sympathy from me. Rolo always struck me as a possessive, individualistic character. Everything was about protecting his big brother, but only because it made him feel good. Even in the end, he only did what he did because of how it made him feel, not because of any real loyalty to Lelouch. And the fact that he was willing to kill anyone that threatened his position as closest to Lelouch (Shirley, Nunnally) was equally despicable. The writers never did a good job, even in this final sequence, of making me sympathize with Rolo. So when this final "heroic sacrifice" came along, I felt less like "Rolo has a heart" and more "Rolo is so desperate for Lelouch's love he will kill himself to get it." And he does. And part of me wishes Lelouch told him the truth again to reiterate his true feelings. Rolo didn't deserve to be lied to there. He deserved to die knowing the one person that "loved" him and made him a human being really despised him and was treating him like any other tool. To me, that would be a fitting death for Rolo.
So yeah, kinda slow episode, the Black Knights turning has been expected for a while, and a decent set-up for what looks like a one-on-one battle between the Emperor and Lelouch (which I am giddy about).
Season 2 Turn 20
Edit
Suzaku monologue! That's new, I think. Reflecting on his past, talking about his mistakes. He blames Geass, not a surprise.
Nina is moping. God, I hate you. Shoot her, Suzaku. Shooooooooooooooooot her! "It's a big hit, Nina." Hehehehe.
Opening sequence skippage!
Lelouch hypothesizing on what the Emperor is doing.
God, what are those people around the Emperor wearing? They look even more ridiculous than him.
Anya freaking out some more. Geass!!!
C2 is hiding. Poor girl. Anya talking to C2 like he knows her. Huh.
What the hell? C2 and Anya in her... mind, I guess?
...
...
...
You know what? F*** this. I'm done. I'm f***ing done. You broke me, Code Geass. I'm broken. I don't even give a s*** anymore.
C2 has her memory back. Who gives a f***? I don't care. This is all stupid bulls*** and I don't care.
Viletta and Cornelia talking to each other. Is this the first time they've interacted? "Noble rank isn't everything."
Black Knights think they should say that Zero is dead and that he was killed in battle. He's just a symbol so he can't really disprove it. Whatever. F*** this nonsense.
Lelouch and Rivalz talking, which is somehow NOT the low point of the show. We can thank that little revelation earlier.
Lelouch is actually sad that Rolo is dead? F*** you Lelouch. F*** everyone on this show.
Lelouch is going after the Emperor directly. Should be fun.
Emperor is doing something that's causing glowing red doors and symbols all over the world. Even the penguins are not immune. Apparently the Ragnarok connection is what will kill the "old god" which is just as stupid now as it was when it was first mentioned. Emperor just muted that b****! He doesn't care about your stupid wars as they are now "obsolete." Still not the stupidest part of this episode by a long shot.
Milly announces that Zero is dead. Uh-oh! Everyone is really sad! Jeremiah Gottwald wants to see his face. You cannot deny Jeremiah Gottwald the truth! Kallen trying to reason with Ohgi, Ohgi and the rest of them being idiots. Seriously, you do owe a lot to the man, as the Black Rebellion was going nowhere fast without him. If he never came along, you'd be crushed like any other attempts to retake Japan. Maybe instead of trying to kill the guy or hand him over to Britainnia, you actually thank him for what he's done. "Oh no, he manipulated us" Yeah, into "manipulated" you into winning a damn war against impossible odds. God, I hope the Black Knights completely crumble without him.
Lelouch using Geass'd people to hold other people's eyes open so he can geass them. Redundant isn't it? Whatever, this show is so friggin dumb anyway. May as well add to the stupidity.
Playing pool to pass the time...
Lancelot Albion? Custom Knightmare, yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Everyone is kinda upset with Suzaku, yet they pick the most ridiculous music to play in the background. Seriously, it completely undermines the scene. Not that I can take this crap seriously anymore.
Schneizel comes in with Cornelia. They lie to her about Guilford.
Suzaku confronts them about the truth. "I've been naive to this point." "No, you?" Lloyd, I love you. Please stay who you are while I try to keep what little sanity I have left.
Suzaku wants that Knight of One position. He's suggesting... mutiny! Alright, mutiny on both sides! Schniezel wants to ascend to Emperor. He points out how the Emperor doesn't give a s*** anymore. Hmmm... I COULD dig this storyline if this show didn't become instant crap earlier. Ooooooooooooooh weeeeeeeeeeeeeell.
Gino disagrees with all this. He's quite upset with Suzaku. "What matters is results," says Suzaku. So he's gone full-blown into Zero/Lelouch territory. Interesting how hard he fought against this, and now he's the very thing he hates. Nice contrast against Lelouch's jump in humanity this season. Wait, what am I saying? Code Geass being good? Hahahahahaha! That's a laugh. No, this show is awful and will continue being awful.
Suzaku is going directly after the Emperor, while Gino is held at spear-point. Schneizel and Gino interacting, and Schneizel finally starting to show his smug-snake side more.
Oh s***! Suzaku's already there! SWORD FIGHT! Accusations! Suzaku really hates Geass. "You abandoned her. (Euphy)" "So what?" Wrong choice of words there, Charles.
And here comes Bismark Waldstein (hehehehehehehe). Everything is so damn mundane to Charles. Oh goody, Bismark has Geass as well.
Suzaku's eyes are flashing, apparently its telling him to live. See, this is what is so damn confusing about the geass to "live."
Bismark points out that Suzaku is "weaker" without his compassion. An interesting way of looking at things. Especially from a guy like Bismark.
EXPLOSION! Here comes Lelouch! Hahahahahaha!
Suzaku ran away! The Knight of 12, huh? Something tells me that's the expendable one that dies. Just a thought.
Woooooo!
Shoulder-shaking laugh! Anya/Marianne vs Bismark! Well, that was short-lived.
Just looking at Anya here makes me want to shut this off and never start it up again.
....
The hell is this? "God, hear me now! The time has come to settle this!" I hope it's a fist-fight. I wanted to see God vs. the Emperor in a boxing match, It'd fit this show perfectly at this point.
Emperor points out the fact that he's immortal, while Lelouch destroys the exit from this place. Hahahahahaha!
"Lelooooooooooooooouch!"
"Let us repent, suffering together for all eternity!" Lelouch really has snapped.
If I haven't made it clear enough, I will outright say it: the revelation that Marianne is still alive has pretty much ruined everything. I am not exaggerating here, the very reason for Lelouch doing what he did was to avenge his mother's death and create a new world for his younger sister, has, in the span of two episodes, been rendered completely pointless. The fact that Lelouch is unaware of this is irrelevent. This came completely out of nowhere, with no build up and only minimal foreshadowing. There was hints that there was something up with Anya, but the fact she was apparently harboring the "soul" of Marianne was an absolutely atrocious plot twist. And the fact that this stupid event is all it took to bring back the old C2, making C2's memory loss period completely pointless and stupid as well. In fact, I assume at this point that anyone important that died before this is really just alive thanks to Geass. Is Euphy dead? No, she lives on. Her Geass allows her to become Suzaku's farts, and every time he passes gas, its her saying "I love you." Nunnally? Her geass allows her to change bodies with anyone around her. She's actually Lelouch now. Lelouch became Rolo (but don't worry, Rolouch comes back to life thanks to Suzaku's Geass of Necromancy), and Rolo became the Arthur the cat. The cat became a pizza, consumed by C2, which then caused her to gain all the memories of the cat and lose her own again. Now she runs around chasing mice and drinking milk from a saucer.
I can picture the maker now. "Hello, this is Ichiro Okouchi! It’s not easy writing stories for Code Geass considering my functional illiteracy. Honestly, I don’t really like this show, and I don’t want you to like it either. I hate it and feel threatened by coherent plot development. I will ruin this franchise. I’m just coming out and telling you. F*** Code Geass and f*** you."
Ugh, this really is a low point. I could barely watch the rest of this episode, and I don't even know if I want to continue. Please, please, PLEASE tell me something worthwhile happens in the next episode that will make me forget this crap. Otherwise, just let this topic purge because I'm not finishing this.
Season 2 Turn 21
Edit
C2, MariAnya, and Suzaku talking. "Right now, I'm Marianne, the mother of Lelouch" Yes, thank you for reminding me. Ugh.
Is this opening different? It's the same music, but the montage seems different.
Tamaki is quite upset that they have to kill Zero! Kallen needs to know the truth. I like where this is going with their relationship.
Lelouch asking questions! Emperor and Lelouch having a nice father/son chat. What is up with that damn thing spiraling? It's freaky as hell.
"That all sounds like metaphysical nonsense to me." Good way to describe this season!
C's world is God, huh. It's basically the world's subconcious. Well, it's dumb.
"Charles is waiting for us." Well then.
"We're very similar." I always like how this gets dropped in storylines no matter what. "You and I aren't so different." They both want to die but can't. Well, that's not true. Suzaku can just wait until old age does him in, you can't, C2. Ha!
Kallen still wants the truth!
Marianne reunites with Lelouch! Lelouch thinks it's a trick, Emperor assures him otherwise.
Emperor's motives revealed! Apparently the competition for the thrown killed his mother, so him and V2 (his brother) decided they should create a world without lies. Super.
V2 apparently decided he didn't want to go with this plan. V2 had a contract with Marianne? That would explain the Geass power. And V2 was the killer. That explains why the Emperor took his power of immortality. So it's still stupid, but at least in a sense-making way. Improvement!
Anya was there, too! Talk about plot convenience! And that explains why C2 kept talking to herself. It's really her communicating with Marianne. Once again, stupid but sensible. This is pretty tolerable!
V2 denies it, Emperor is pissed he lied!
Lelouch wants to know why he was sent to Japan with Nunnally.
Cut to Milly! For no reason! Oh, I guess we need more Nina repenting.
C2 and Suzaku having a heart-to-heart. How often have they interacted?
So Lelouch and Nunnally were sent away to Japan for protection. This means they actually... cared about Lelouch and Nunnally? But then, why treat him like dirt after Marianne's death? Why go through the trouble of brain-washing him at the end of last season? Was it just an act to keep V2 from acting against Nunnally and Lelouch? Perhaps if the Emperor pretended he didn't care about them, V2 wouldn't try and kill them? Ugh, this is stupid AND contrived! Dammit, Code Geass! You seemed like you were on the right track!
They're using Lelouch for this "Ragnarok Connection."
Everything in this whole show was just get C2. Really.
Suzaku arrives. Asks why he's doing want he's doing.
Apparently he wants to create the world Euphemia and Nunnally wanted... Alright then.
The world is going crazy!
This sword thing is slaying "God." This sounds so stupid.
Suzaku once again questioning Lelouch's motives, thinks he's using Nunnally as an excuse.
"I reject you! And everything you believe!" When exactly did you EMBRACE everything he believed, Lelouch? You've hated this guy from the beginning!
Lelouch is ranting and raving. Something about the world stagnating and how it wouldn't be life. It would be "closed and completed."
Marianne name drops that even Euphemia could come back. Oh snap, trying to get Suzaku on their side.
"Forcing your good intentions on other people is no different from an evil act." Well, it kinda is, Lelouch.
"Why didn't you stop the war between Japan and Britainnia?" I assume it's because they still needed that MacGuffin fuel. Sakuradite or whatever.
"You said the dead will rejoin the living! You don't give a damn about the future." Good f***ing point, actually. Why would Lelouch believe that they truly cared what happened to Lelouch and Nunnally if they believed that it didn't matter what happened to them, since they could be brought back anyway. Kinda undermines the whole "We were protecting you" thing, doesn't it?
And now Lelouch is off on another tangent. It's hard to follow sometimes whether or not Lelouch is in the right here.
Emperor says it's too late. Lelouch is going to Geass the Will of Mankind... Holy s***! That's pretty cool!
Marianne tries to stop Lelouch, Suzaku draws his sword. Could it be... Lelouch and Suzaku together again? Oh happy days!
Holy s***! The second eye! He's got Double Geass now! Double Geass all the way! And he broke the thought elevator!
Wait, so Lelouch complains about how Marianne and Charles are forcing their will on the world, and yet he's essentially doing the same thing with his Geass power. Am I wrong in thinking he's a hypocrite here? Whatever.
The Emperor and Marianne are disappearing? Why? Whatever.
Lelouch yelling at them again! He's pretty damn angry!
ROCKET EMPEROR! He talks about Schniezel's World. Is this a physical thing or metaphorical. Whatever.
And now they're dead/gone/something. So the very woman that justified most of Lelouch's actions turns out to be his enemy in the end. Ugh. Nice job there guys.
Bismark can sense the Emperor's death. Interesting.
Suzaku raises his sword against Lelouch. Suzaku mentions he's still the one that killed Euphy. "What of it?" Oh Lelouch, you're such a douche.
Charles is... going to make an announcement? He's dead! Or something, I don't really know. Knowing this show, he might somehow still be alive.
Rumors!
And out walks... Lelouch! Suck it, Britainnia! You've got a new Emperor! "I've returned from the Depths in Hell intact." Heh.
Lelouch says he killed the Emperor and he's the next Emperor. And Suzaku falls from the roof! Was he waiting there the whole time? How long was he there?
Knight of Zero, huh. So they've worked out their problems I guess? Kinda sucks it happened off screen. I was so waiting for a great resolution to their story, and its just not the same if one moment he has his sword raise towards him, then in the next scene they're working together. Dammit.
And he Geasses everyone to acknowledge him as Emperor. "All Hail Lelouch!" Smug smile.
Schniezel thinks this is a good thing. Why? I have no friggin' clue. This guy is pretty hard to figure out. And he's cut off before he reveals his own secret, huh.
Let's get one thing out of the way: this episode was pretty stupid. Granted, it tied up a lot of things in a nice, neat little package. But I really don't get why Code Geass says the Emperor and Marianne's manipulation is bad but Lelouch's is acceptable. It's really hard to understand that, to be quite honest. And I still don't get what the Ragnorok Connection and the Sword of Akosha were truly doing. They were going to "eliminate lies and masks" or whatever they said. It's really just kinda dumb in the end, as its hard to tell what exactly was going to happen to the world if their plan came to fruition. Why exactly where the dead going to come back to life? Why was the world going to stagnate? Why were these things going to happen? Honestly, I don't even know if the Emperor and Marianne were in the wrong here. But it doesn't matter, because all that s*** is over and done. Good riddance.
The other disappointment was the resolution of Lelouch/Suzaku. I was waiting since the very beginning to see what finally causes them to reunite. And we never do. We get one scene where they are still pretty antagonistic towards each other. Then, we have Lelouch get defended by Suzaku against the Palace guards, and for Lelouch name him the "Knight of Zero." What happened between then will forever be left to speculation. That's probably the worst part of the episode. I'm hoping against hope that the next four episodes shed some light on what happened inbetween those scenes and not just gloss over it. Either way, the stupid stuff from Code Geass is hopefully gone forever and Lelouch vs. Suzaku is offically done (even if it wasn't satisfactory). What does come next, hopefully doesn't end up being tacked on bulls*** and actually makes it worthwhile for the series to keep going.
Season 2 Turn 22
Edit
We start out this episode with the Emperor's s*** getting burned. All the royals are now in the army or working as maids. Ha!
Black Knights are unsure. Some people think he's a good guy, other's are unsure.
It kinda feels like we're watching a whole new series, and not just cause it's been a while, either!
Geassing everyone to be his slaves! What the f*** are these new soldiers? Lloyd wants to check out this power of Lelouch's.
Jeremiah Gottwald has rejoined with Lelouch! Lelouch's outfit is kinda goofy looking.
OPENING!
Wow, Lloyd is actually questioning the actions of Lelouch. Of all people to develop a conscious...
ARTHUR!
What the s***, why are we dealing with the f***ing Student Council? WHY!?
Nina still doesn't understand that her giant bomb would create so much destruction. F*** this b****. Apparently they're trying to get her, huh.
Suzaku and Lelouch talking to each other. Apparently Lelouch is going to kill a bunch of people to make people forget about Euphemia... oooookay?
The "Zero Requiem?"
Schneizel is up to something! A lot of references to things we don't know s*** about.
Here comes the Knights of the Round. Suzaku coming out with... LANCELOT ALBION! And some random Knight of the Round gets killed in her very first appearance. What a great character she was. Let's have a moment of silence.
...
Alright, Albion is wrecking everyone's s***. Gino is trying to stop him, what a joke. Suzaku wrecks him, tells him to join his side.
Bismark activates his Geass! Cause everyone this season has one.
His geass allows him to see the future. Ok, let's be honest, up until this point it seemed like Geass meant it affected people's brains. Rolo's changed the perception of time, not actually freezing it. Charles, Lelouch, C2, even Mao seems based on this theory. So, uh, how does Bismark's work? Never mind, I don't really care anymore.
"I used this power to battle Lady Marianne!" What the hell, Marianne piloted Knightmares? When the f*** did this happen?
Suzaku and Lelouch sound really weird talking to each other.
And the Albion just wrecked him because he's got the better Knightmare. Thank god you revealed that Geass power to make it completely pointless a minute later. Really, thanks.
Gino is emoing. Blaaaaaaaargh.
Lelouch goes on camera, and wants to join the United Federal of Nations. Black Knights are shocked, Schniezel and Cornelia watch on silently.
And they're going to have it happen at the academy. I assume there's going to be more of the student council. Crap.
Schniezel and Cornelia said someone left, and they're going to deploy "Damocles."
That was a pretty sinister use of the word "Democracy," Lelouch. You're actually more evil sounding now than ever before!
News report Milly! And here comes Emperor Lelouch.
Kallen and Lelouch! Rivalz jumps over like a moron and ruins a touching a moment. Lelouch looks down on him with the disdain he deserves.
Lelouch pretends not to know her to keep up appearances.
Black Knights are prepared for any wrong move. Only Tamaki thinks this is legit. And he's always right!
Kallen and Lelouch sharing a moment. Kallen reflects on their relationship, and wants to know what Lelouch's real goal is here. "What do I mean to you?" Oh, this is good.
Kallen plants a kiss on him. Nothing from Lelouch...
...
...
OK, I am legitimately sad. I get the feeling there's a reason why Lelouch didn't respond, that Lelouch actually does care about Kallen, but I think he also wants to keep Kallen away from him since he seems to be planning something pretty bad. But still, I always liked Kallen/Lelouch and this is a pretty somber ending to it.
Lelouch addresses the council, Lelouch you sound like such a douche. They isolate Lelouch for fear of his Geass, while Lady Kaguya questions his real motives. Jeeze, the girl that was head-over-heels for him has completely turned on him. Xing Ke is also there, as well as Tohdoh. They're afraid that Lelouch joins and takes full control of the UFN thanks to it's large population.
They want to have the Empire broken up or limited to 20%. Lelouch says the "Will to Destroy" is what he needs to rule the world. Lancelot Albion shows up and is ready to kill everyone in the room.
And here comes Britannia. Seriously, the Black Knights are such a joke with Lelouch. They're lucky they can tie their own shoes.
"Lelouch is the now the enemy of the world." I think I'm getting an idea of what's going on here.
Ahahahaha, Lelouch is still asking to be part of the UFN. I love this guy so much.
Nina and Rivalz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Lloyd yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
Oh s***, someone used a F.L.E.I.J.A. on the Capital City! Damocles is introduced... what the f*** is this goofy looking thing? Really? A giant flying cliff?
Schniezel! Lelouch and Schniezel argue.
NUNNALLY IS ALIVE AND SHE DECLARES LELOUCH AND SUZAKU HER ENEMIES OH GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD! Ok, I'm not that surprised but still!
So begins life after Zero and the rule of Emperor Lelouch. A lot of hints going on to a larger plan (Zero Requiem) and the idea that he's going to violently take over the entire world to erase the memory of Princess Massacre. Yet, I can guarantee that Suzaku wouldn't go along this plan simply because it'd make Euphy look less awful to the public. There's definitely something deeper her. Lelouch is setting himself up as the world's greatest villain, and I assume the point is that whoever kills him will be the world's greatest hero. The question is who, exactly. Kinda sad, though, that it looks like Lelouch is going the "Redemption by Death" route here. Of course I don't know for sure but I think this is the most likely route.
I don't ever want to see the Student Council doing anything major again in an episode. DO YOU F***ING HEAR ME, CODE GEASS? THIS IS YOUR ONLY GOD DAMN WARNING!
Kallen/Lelouch appears to be officially over. I think this is the moment when I realized what the larger goal is here. Lelouch is trying to protect Kallen by pushing her away, and it's sad because now we see for the first time that Kallen really does care for Lelouch. That kiss wasn't for nothing, and you could tell it pained her a lot when she didn't receive any sort of response. It's unfortuante, because we know throughout various episodes that Lelouch does seem to care a lot about Kallen, but in this episode it's obvious that he's got something larger going on and he can't risk Kallen unnecessarily.
Overall, I'm definitely digging this episode more than the last 2. The lack of all that nonsense really clears up the storyline, and now focuses on the political and personal aspects a lot more. C2's body language seems to suggest a lot as well. Curled up, not saying much other than the occasional snide comment. I get the feeling she's almost bracing herself for what's coming. Compared to C2, who was very active for much of season 2, it's a much more reserved, guarded appearance, Damocles is kinda ridiculous, but I do like the idea of Lelouch now having to deal with Nunnally as his TRUE enemy. Wonder how this will impact his decision to go through the "Zero Requiem."
Season 2 Turn 23
Edit
Oh no, random speculation! Here comes Jeremiah Gottwald! Did… did he just randomly leap from his Knightmare that was like a 100+ feet in the air? That seems kinda dangerous!
The maid says that the capital WAS destroyed! And she needs to go to Lelouch as it’s “urgent.” And… faceplant!
OPENING THEME THAT I DON’T LIKE AS MUCH AS THE PREVIOUS ONE BUT HAS KINDA GROWN ON ME.
Lelouch is wide-eyed and surprised! Schniezel rescued him. Pendragon is indeed gone (the capital of Britannia), and Nunnally knows about Geass now. And Nunnally is fully aware that Lelouch is Zero and wonders if he did it for her sake.
CRAZY LAUGH! Lelouch begins to insult Nunnally. Is anyone really buying this? I mean, like hell that he’s suddenly turned on Nunnally. Lelouch says he does it for himself and will crush her “without mercy and without regret.”
Schniezel is the one who destroyed Pendragon, but apparently gave them warning to leave. Yeah, because randomly destroying the city is A-OK so long as you tell them it’s happening.
Nunnally wants the F.L.E.I.J.A. warhead firing button. Because she can’t fight. And she wants to bear the sin of firing it. That’s… uh, interesting.
Lelouch pissed that C2 didn’t know about Nunnally. *FACEPALM* Lelouch is pissed and having a… heart attack? Suzaku is yelling at Lelouch about the Zero Requiem. Suzaku really is a huge dick now. I mean, he wasn’t the nicest of people but honestly it seems like he’s stopped acting in any way, shape, or form endearing. Like I said earlier, this has to be a set-up for something.
C2 as a shield, huh.
Oh hey, Nina blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh.
Schniezel lets Cornelia know that he actually killed the people in Pendragon. I don’t know how I feel about him being the final “big bad” of the series. Obviously, they’ve been playing him up as a wild card, and just throwing this sudden act of extreme… well, evil, seems a bit much. Almost like he has to one-up Lelouch’s “evil” to end the series so we can still root for Lelouch. Cornelia is pretty damn pissed.
Oh boy, the bad guy’s justifying their actions. Damocles is going to destroy the entire world. So his plan is to pretty much put the fear of getting wiped out by Damocles into everyone walking this planet. A bit more straight forward than Charles’ and Marianne’s plan. It’s pretty much like he has his own Metal Gear.
“You’re deranged!” And here comes… Diethard. This guy is pretty crazy.
“Sacrifice one or two billion lives” That’s a lot of sacrificing. Cornelia has heard enough! You cannot obtain peace through force, even though that’s totally what she was doing in season 1 (and also racism)! She goes for the attack and… gets shot?
…
Son of a b****! Why? Why did you bring her back to do largely nothing with her this season?! I liked Cornelia in season 1! And I was waiting for the moment for her to be great in season 2! And now she’s dead! God dammit.
The Maid and Jeremiah Gottwald sharing a moment. They were trying to kill each other when they first met, and now they’re best buds… well not really but whatevs.
C2 and Lelouch having a moment, too! This music is kinda weird. “We have to see it through to the end.” See, its kinda obvious how this s*** is going to end at this pont.
What the hell is Nina eating? I hope it kills her.
PINK LANCELOT! ARTHUR! CANDLES! LELOUCH! MONTAGE!
What the hell are the Black Knights doing? Campaigning? Villetta is pregnant! And Lelouch is the father!
Gino is going to join the Black Knights, and he’s talking directly to Kallen. Don’t you dare, Gino. Don’t you f***ing dare!
Wow, the Black Knights are apparently going toe-to-toe with Britannia all over the world. They couldn’t capture Tokyo and suddenly it’s an even match-up? Interesting.
Control of the entire world on the line AGAIN! Lelouch is going to be on the frontline!
Schniezel is making his own little speech. You sneaky little rat bastard.
Anya joined the Black Knights, too? Does anyone really care about her now?
Lelouch! Gotta love that hat. And he’s got the UFN held hostage. Xing Ke and Schniezel arguing over whether to attack or not with the Damocles. “I’ve never lost to Lelouch. Ever.” Prepare for your first time, b****!
Schniezel is now commanding the Black Knights…. that’s just weird. So it’s Lelouch vs. Schniezel! So this is going to be like Chess but with giant fighting robots!
This is the most exciting battle of the series!
Jeremiah Gottwald unloading as many salvos as possible. Looks like Lelouch is getting his ass kicked this time.
Oh what the hell, Lelouch has a plan for this? Did he just blow up a f***ing mountain again? But this time he just destroyed the entire f***ing fleet using MacGuffindite. Everyone’s surprised he sacrificed his own troops? Have you not been watching this show?
Ohgi plot development? Villetta literally sitting alone.
Oh s***, it’s time to fire the F.L.I.E.J.A. Nunnally, you crazy b****! Why would you do this? You are a horrible human being!
Lelouch uses his forces to stop the F.L.I.E.J.A. How exactly does that work?
Tamaki saved Ohgi?! GO TAMAKI! I KNEW YOU HAD IT IN YA!
Nina is Lelouch’s only hope? Are. You. F***ing. KIDDING ME?!?!
Alright, so this episode was ok, but I’m still pissed about the handling of Cornelia for not just this moment, but really the entire season. She’s reintroduced, she doesn’t do much, she contradicts herself in the end, and now she’s dead. She was largely the main antagonist of season 1. She lost her sister thanks to Lelouch’s Geass. And yet their interactions are so few that it holds no real weight.
I also like this plot for being more straight forward, though the Damocles late introduction shows that the writers were getting a bit lazy at the end. They need a trump card for the “bad” guys to play and they created this thing that can shoot warheads to everywhere in the world. Obviously, it makes for a nice way to set the stakes for this, but really, how many times can we play up the “fate of the world” card at this point? It’s been on the line so many times it gets tiring.
Nunnally’s reintroduction wasn’t all that satisfying. Especially since her being willing to fire the F.L.E.I.J.A. warhead seems completely out of character.
I’m a bit curious on how C2 is going to help Lelouch in the end. I mean, I believe Lelouch is going to die, but it seems to imply that C2 is going to factor into this as well. The real question right now is what will C2’s final fate be?
Season 2 Turn 24
Edit
F.L.E.I.J.A. just messing up everything.
So each time she presses the button, it fires another one? Dear God, this is pretty damn scary when you think about what it did in one episode, and they’re just going to keep firing them? Nunnally is quite upset by this. You’re no better than Lelouch now!
Opening!
“It renders tactics useless.” Lelouch is so screwed.
The Damocles has an awesome shield, too. So yeah, really building up the Damocles. Kinda annoying that this thing gets thrown out there at the final moment, but I guess they need something for Schneizel to seem like a credible threat.
Black Knights question Schneizel. Schneizel doesn’t care, cause with the Damocles he doesn’t need an army. Good point.
UGH STUDENT COUNCIL ONLY TWO OF YOU RIVALZ YOU’VE NEVER DONE A DAMN THING WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE?!?! Oh hey, Milly points this out. Thank you. Don’t compliment him or comfort him, tell him how awful he really is. Its for the best.
BLACK KNIGHTS COUNTER-ATTACK!
Xing Ke vs. Suzaku. “JUSTICE WEIGHS ON MY SIDE!” Tohdoh! He’s still alive as well! He didn’t last long, though, cause his Knightmare sucks now. Poor guy.
The Avalon is hit and it’s going down! Tamaki tries to stop Suzaku… and gets killed? Really? Just like that? Credit to him for trying to go out like a badass but… really?
The Black Knights have landed and will take over the ship with SWORDS! Ugh.
Mission what-the-what now, Lelouch?
Nina and Lelouch talking… never thought this would happen after season 1. Nina trying to get character development, I really don’t care get the f*** out of here forever you racist b****.
Here’s that strange music again… oh god… is Lelouch going to sacrifice his life for something? Everything is heading towards it, his last words to his subordinates, the interaction with Nina.
And now sharing a moment with C2. She’s wondering if she ruined his life by giving him his Geass, but Lelouch tells her all the decisions were his. OH YEAH! Kool-Aid Man, I mean, Kallen in the Guren busts through the wall trying to kill Lelouch! No, you love him, you fool!
C2’s pink Lancelot makes me laugh.
DRAMATIC HAT THROW.
Lelouch is going in on his own. Interesting.
Nunnally is going to fire a F.L.E.I.J.A. to kill Lelouch!
Technobabble between Cecile, Nina, and Lloyd! Apparently this will stop the F.L.E.I.J.A.? If Nina built it, it probably won’t work.
Suzaku just destroyed the F.L.E.I.J.A. with a spear? What the hell is that? What the HELL is that?!?!
Oh no, the blind, crippled girl lost the super weapon. That seems bad.
Sounds like the Albion Lancelot is messing up the Damocles. This causes Schneizel to use his “Final Plan.” So we followed Lelouch’s Final Plan with Schneizel’s. I’m guessing there’s a Final Plan after that, too, based on this show.
They’re going to turn the Damocles into a prison for Lelouch by destroying it with a F.L.E.I.J.A. God, they really mass produced the hell out of those warheads, didn’t they?
Oh Jeeze, the Tristan… that means… Gino. Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh.
Gino vs. Suzaku. Kill him Suzaku. Killllllllllllll him. “I’m fighting to protect someone I love.” If that person is Kallen, I will never forgive you, Code Geass. Ever. Not even in a fire.
Schneizel realizes that killing Lelouch makes him the big damn hero. Schneizel’s butt-buddy questions this, thinking what Nunnally would say. Diethard calls her bait. F*** that guy.
Nunnally is left behind! Everyone turning their back on her. Poor girl.
JEREMIAH GOTTWALD vs. Anya. So many individual characters getting final fight sequences. Kallen vs. C2. Kallen even asks if C2 loves. Kallen asking that question is pretty important, I think. It shows Kallen still have feelings for Lelouch, otherwise why should she even care. C2’s response? “I don’t know.” Damn you, Code Geass, and your ambiguous love triangle!
Nunnally crawling looking for the key. She gasps, then cutaway.
Lelouch with the slow chair turn reveal! So corny… yet so perfect.
“You don’t have the desire to win.” Suck on that, Schneizel.
Oh hey Xing Ke is still doing stuff. All the hostages that no one cared about are still alive. Yay.
…
Cornelia is still alive.
F***. This. S***. (it’s almost over its almost over itsalmostover)
Gilford is still alive, as well. Whatever.
Schneizel and Lelouch having a conversation. Same argument he had with the Emperor. “I… seek the future!” responds Lelouch.
Schneizel taking the Kefka route about hopes and dreams. “You deny the will of others, affirming the will of humanity.” Good point, but I think Lelouch has always been aware of his hypocrisy. You know, commit evil to defeat a greater evil, etc.
Oh s***! Lelouch shows up from behind and uses his geass on Schneizel to… obey Zero? But… he’s not Zero anymore. Hmmm, he follows Lelouch, though. I guess cause he knows Zero was Lelouch? Odd wording, Diethard snaps, takes a gun from a soldier, shoots him, and goes to shoot Lelouch. Schneizel kills him. Diethard wants to be geassed, but he’s not worth wasting his geass on, says Lelouch… Alright, then.
Gino and Suzaku still going at it. And Gino gets destroyed. Suck on that!
Kallen vs. Suzaku! Again! Completely new! Original! Wooo! If one of them doesn’t die this time, I’m going to punch something.
Lelouch goes to confront Nunnally, knowing she has the F.L.E.I.J.A. launcher. Nunnally finally opens her eyes. Interesting, the Emperor dies and now Nunnally can break free of his Geass. Coincidence?
No thoughts on this cause we’re on to episode 25!
Season 2 Turn 25
Edit
God damn, she’s got some giant eyes.
“The face of a brother and a murder.” Ouch.
Use geass on Nunnally? “Cure her blindness?” How exactly would that work? Unless someone opens her eyes for her? I don’t get that logic.
Opening! *sniff* For the last time, too. Still like the previous theme better, as I’ve repeatedly said, but EVERYTHING IS BRIGHT!
Kallen vs. Suzaku still start off the final episode. Suzaku is trying to justify his actions, Kallen asking why he chose this route, even though she always believed he had his heart in the right place.
OH MY F***ING GOD I DON’T WANT TO EVER SEE THE STUDENT COUNCIL AGAIN!
Brief glimpse of Anya vs. JEREMIAH GOTTWALD!
Tohdoh wants to rejoin the fight. Look, Tohdoh, man. You’ve barely had any character development, your best showing in a knightmare was your first appearance, and you look like hell. Just… let the important characters fight this one out. Please.
I was too distracted by the butterflies in the foreground to listen, but they’re trying justify their actions between Lelouch and Nunnally. Lelouch is finally explaining why he did this for Nunnally. Suzaku and Kallen are having their deadly fight/friendly debate. Everyone is kinda talking about their justifications throughtout the series. Makes sense, really.
Tohdoh yells her the female member of the Holy Swords, then apologizes and collapses. Probably for the best. “Why do people always have to fight?” “I fight because there’s something I have to protect!” Is Xing Ke a pedophile? I kinda hope he is. It makes this a lot more interesting, to say the least.
Cornelia is still in the hospital. Can’t wait until she hops in a Knightmare and starts fighting with people!
Ohgi driving a truck. Lloyd and Rakshota trying to justify their actions as well.
Tamaki is alive. I am not surprised. “Why did everyone treat me like a fool?” Cause… you are. Sorry.
Ugh, all this stuff and jumping and just STOP IT! At this point, I don’t really care anymore what anyone’s justifications are.
Lelouch geasses Nunnally to hand over the key. She tries her best to resist, but she can’t.
Back to JEREMIAH GOTTWALD vs. Anya! “Memorize this! MEMORIZE JEREMIAH GOTTWALD! Commit it to memory because that’s the memorable name of the man who has defeated you.” Jeremiah… I love you. I honest to goodness love you. You need your own damn show. He goes to use the geass canceller to restore Anya’s memories? Awww.
Looks like the Lancelot and the Guren lack their respective weapons. It’s a fist fight! In Giant Robots! “Let’s end this once and for all!” Yeah, we’ve heard that before.
Oh s***, they’re both down. Kallen falls off the Damocles but Gino catches her. Yep, they’re a couple now. God damn son of a b**** motherf***er Gino I hate you forever you are now worse than Nina.
And Suzaku… exploded? No way is he dead. Not until I see a body. No one in this show dies. Ever.
Lelouch says he’s going to follow his “path.” and tells Nunnally that he loves her. As she snaps out of her geass, Lelouch has the smuggest look he’s ever had on his face. Friggin’ love that. Nunnally curses him out, as she doesn’t remember his final words.
C2 is captured by the Black Knights.
ATTENTION ENTIRE WORLD! Hah, this is great. One final epic speech.
And now we’re back in Japan.
Big ol’ Parade for Lelouch, and he’s got all his enemies tied to posts alongside him. Ha! Schneizel looks like a damn hobo.
Suzaku has a grave, and the cat is there. Arthur was the only one to attend his funeral, poor guy.
Everyone hatin’ on Lelouch.
Hah, he’s puttin’ everyone in jail. I love Emperor Lelouch. He’s so unnecessarily dickish to everyone.
Jeremiah Gottwald is still alive, which is very important.
Everyone stops and gasps… IT’S ZERO! Lelouch is shocked! C2 is praying!
Oh come ON! It’s so obvious it’s Suzaku the way he’s running. May as well throw in a Spinzaku for us morons that can’t figure it out. Kallen figured it out, too. Jeremiah Gottwald goes in to stop him! SuZero jumps over him, and Jeremiah Gottwald simply smiles. He knows what’s up. Also, this activates Schneizel’s geass. That explains why Lelouch chose Zero over his own name.
Lelouch pulls a gun, but SuZero disarms him easily. FLASHBACK’D!
Lelouch and Suzaku finally bring about the Zero Requiem. I don’t want to describe this moment. I just… wanna watch. Just this once.
…
Nunnally finally realizes what he was doing. And with that, Lelouch dies.
…
And now, the WHERE ARE THEY NOW part.
Kallen is monologuing. She’s back in school. Everything bad is getting blamed on Lelouch.
SuZero and Nunnally are now the heads of the Britainnian Empire, if it’s still that.
Viletta is pregnant as hell. She and Ohgi got married.
Anya and Jeremiah Gottwald are working in an orange farm. Oh, Code Geass, you clever bastards. Sad that we never found out what Anya was like with her memories back.
C2 is riding in a wagon for… whatever reason.
“I said that Geass was the power of the King which would condemn you to a life of solitude. I think maybe that’s not quite correct… right, Lelouch?”
…Is she talking to Lelouch the same way she talked to Marianne?
And, it’s finished.
Alright, let’s keep this short and sweet: does this episode make up for a lot of the crap I disliked throughtout the season? No. Hell no. Were the final two episodes enjoyable? Yes. For the most part. I hated seeing that everyone who might have been dead wasn‘t actually dead, but everything built towards the conclusion rather well over the course of the final two episodes. All of the major plot-threads where tied together, and Lelouch was absolutely tremendous in his final moments. The start of the final episode was kind of frustrating, though. Everyone was just reiterating justifications from previous episodes, just kinda to remind us that yes, this is why they’re fighting to the end. I will say that it would have been fun to watch Lelouch hunt down and capture his enemies, but I guess that would have taken too long.
As for my thoughts on the series as a whole, well, I think by now you should know that I’m not a fan. Did it have it’s moments? Absolutely. But I think the problem was that how the narrative jumped around like a frog with ADHD. There were too many plot twists, sometimes just for the sake of plot twists. Death held no weight, as several times dead characters were proven to be alive not long afterwards. Too many characters begging for character development from the first season got none (Tohdoh, Lloyd, Cecile come to mind, although Tohdoh was instantly marginalized by the introduction of Xing Ke). The fact that they spent significant time trying to develop NINA of all people gives you an idea of the problems with this season. A lot of the new characters did nothing but annoy me to varying levels (Rolo, Gino, Anya, the Eunuchs) or were just… there after their initial introductions (Xing Ke). This season also featured a knightmare pissing contest. It seemed like every other episode there was an upgraded version of a knightmare being introduced. The season needed to beat me over the head with, yes, Suzaku still hates Lelouch for killing Euphemia. Shirley regaining her memory again was a painful reminded of a plot point I hated from the first season, though it did have a tearful resolution. Also, and I learned that this was apparently an issue due to budgetary reason, it seemed like the animation wasn’t quite as tight as in the first season. C2’s memory loss was largely a waste of time, and the student council sections were still awful. V2 wasn’t particularly interesting and was rather quickly disposed of.
But like I said, there’s still some enjoyable moments. Lelouch/Zero still has a great presence, even to the end. Nunnally, while still not one of my favorites, was more enjoyable this season. Jeremiah Gottwald’s plot twist might have sucked, but Jeremiah Gottwald certainly did not. Kallen got some nice character growth, after being largely stagnant in the first season outside of a few episodes. Especially liked seeing Kallen and Lelouch’s relationship change. And there was the occasional “so ridiculous it’s awesome” moments during the season. Like death by bubbles, ROCKET EMPEROR, or Night of a Million Zeros. C2’s revelation was actually a pretty neat moment, and the sincerity of Lelouch to convince her not to go through with the Emperor’s plan to take her immortality.
Do I have any regrets? Well, not finishing this quicker would be one. I also don’t think I used to the best method for reviewing these. Just too frustrating to try and keep up while keeping my thoughts together and writing them down. Having to rewatch an episode just to make sure I didn’t miss anything was annoying. If I start another project like this, I’m either going to simply review the episode after I watch it, rather doing a play by play account, or I’m going to record my voice and then play it back and write it down. Or just post the recorded message. Whichever.
